Thanks for the comments, I hope I will do the kit justice. :slightly_smiling_face:

@Johnnych01

Do I still have time to be part of the campaign?..

No chicken I swear! … :pray:… I’m undecided between the Tie Fighter “Miners Guild” canary yellow or Star Destroyer “Errant Venture”, however if possible the models will be 3D printed by me.

To paraphrase my 5 year old mini-me … Pleeeeeeeeeese!.. :pleading_face:

Of course you’re in buddy … the more the merrier. Would be great to see a Star Destroyer … although I’m not sure sure I would want to be painting a real 1 to 1 … that would take a life time … but I suppose the trusty droids would do that tedious task lol …
I am still thinking of doing another entry for this, possibly a flying thing of some description … plenty of time to think about that one …

And a general point for anyone who is interesting in joining the build, please dont forget that Ryan @Tank_1812 is also a co-leader for this group build so any Qs can be highlighted to him as well if you’re not sure about something :+1: :+1:

Thanks!

I think finding that amount of red in the galaxy was not easy too, as the Corellian enterprises advertisement says “you can have the ship any color you want … as long is gray!”…:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Now I have to prepare the file for printing which for me will be a challenge I have never printed something so big and I would like to do it all in one piece, I always have the Tie Fighter option but I have some problems with the wings,they tend to sag a bit,probably to thin,i try agai whit a different resin and more supports…post some pics soon… :+1:

Pretty sure that was just a humorous reference to something Henry Ford said, and not an indication ‘red’ was hard to come by.

Henry who? … :thinking:… also from Corellia?

Ever tried to go to any hardware store in the inner rim and ask for enough red to cover a Star Destroyer? … not a easy task mate,not easy!

What sort of scale does the printed Star destroyer and TIE come in at ?

@Johnnych01

With printed stuff many times there’s no scale on the description,and is up to you,your printer and the resolution of the file …also depends if it’s all in one piece or multiple,on the Star destroyer I have the option one or multiple pieces,tie all in one but super resolution,even to much,I have problem because the wings are paper thin, I can see through but was a file not made for printing but for 3D rendering…my printer it’s a resin uv,very high resolution but limited print size…I have to find the real size and calculate the scale

Ok, the Star Destroyer should be around 22cm…the real one it’s 1600m = 160000cm so the scale it’s about 1/7’272… :joy:

I wasnt expecting that big for a 3D print, thats pretty impressive size. Now Im really looking forward to seeing it :+1: :+1:

22cm is the maximum in the position that I think is the best … or more than anything else I hope … let’s say it’s “guesstimation” :thinking:

This in the model still in the “box”…

The pics and how its printed in that link look really very very good. I would be very happy with that. So do you own the 3D printer or is it like a program you have that you then get a third party to print for you ? Sorry to go off track a bit but I am intrigued by this 3D print tech and the effects you can get.

For me no worries I just don’t want to hi Jack the tread….i own a small resin UV monocrome 3D printer,now the price for this technology has dropped considerably,the resolution is 50micron to 20micron per layer at 2k resolution

I think for hours hobby it’s the best type at the moment

Please dont worry about hi jacking the thread as this is all sort of related to your build and I think others will find the back ground info just as interesting as what I am doing as you explain it. This sort of tech was pie in the sky sort of stuff probably even ten years ago that you could own your own 3D printer and produce things like the Star Destroyer you’re doing. Like I said before, I am really looking forward to watching this happen.

Ok…I was thinking to skip the printing part but if people are interested I can start from the file up…but I have to advise I am a slow builder…slower than a dead snail :snail:…and my knowledge is very limited,I discovered this technology only 8 months ago on YouTube on Modelchili channel and a play with it for less then 6 months

And sorry for my Maccheroni English!
