no worries, … the wait will be worth it
Nice with a Star destroyer. That is going to be a cool model. I have been tempted many times by the Zvezda, ESCI, and Bandai models. So far I have resisted, though.
Ok ,first thigh to do its download the stl or obj file,some time the files have small errors that can give problem during the print, like small invisible gaps between the sides of an object or stuff like that,the easiest way to fix the basics errors are open the file with 3Dbuilder ,everybody run windows 10 already have this app installed,if the app detects something wrong would be fixed automatically.
Second and most important step it’s prepare the file for the print,here I use Lychee Slicer it’s probably at the moment the best free app for my type of printer,you can scale down or up,set the printer and the resin parameters,chose position, put the supports (its little bit like the sprue in the injection mould and support the print),there’s automatic tools to help you to do that but because it’s not only a “scientific “ process you have to learn to fix and add by trail and errors,finish all that the app have to prepare the file for the machine, for that it Slice the object parallel to the build plate,in my case slice of 50micron=0.05mm,I load the sliced file on a USB stick and it’s ready to go…next post I show some pictures of the process but that’s the basics
I have the small Bandai in my stash
I did some more painting. Which I really do not like, but this is a great exercise.
Basic colours are done, now time for finetuning, patching up and weathering.
Looks really good Ron, the chosen colours (which I guess are for a desert scenario) all go together well and break up the X wing outline nicely. I think once you maybe add a filter to it and weather it it going to look even better, and battered as how you’d expect something in harsh desert sand conditions to look after a while

Really nice color scheme, Ron. Something out of the ordinary. Some washes will really bring out all those panels. The bare rear engine parts are screaming for some washes and some metallics.
Looking forward to see more
I really like the X-Wing in desert camo, perfect for Tatooine, and I agree with the others, a nice filter and some washing and you will see what a nice result
@Johnnych01 @SGTJKJ @Vicious
Thanks. I was actuallt toying with the idea to redo it all, but in black and greys. Just the process of doing it all over kept me from actually doing it.
It genuinely doesn’t need to be repainted Ron. That scheme looks great and all it could do with is a filter / wash to age it and some wear added from sand abrasiveness from storms etc. I would be be very happy with it. It also benefits from that scheme as the colour blocked areas correspond with the panels on the X wing and again that just makes sense as to how they would do it on a real bird…it looks great

Ron, I would not redo it. The color scheme looks great.
Looks great as it is.
Like I said, I was considering it. But I went with the plan as it was and now consider it done!!
I added a neutral wash, drybrushed it with sand and added a dark wash, which created some streaking in the flight direction as well. I skipped on the beaten and worn look, though.
I then got the crazy idea to make the X-wing “in flight” by using a transparent plastic rod, Did not have any. So went for a steel one… 1MM bent over like a ablade of grass after a summer’s rainshower. 1.5MM like a reed in the wind… 2mm held the craft aloft!!
Found a matching stone in the garden to act as base and counterweight and had one hell of a fight securing the rod to the stone. Ended up using copious amounts of superglue and small gravel to create maximun surface for adherence.
Great build, Ron! It looks nice and is a good idea to use a stone as both base and counter weight.
Great finish on the X wing Ron it’s all blended in just right…and it looks really nice in the flight mode you’ve given it,… Very clever

Love the way it turned out Ron, that scheme looks great on the body shape.
The photo taken underneath the X-wing is really gorgeous!!!
Congrats!
@alliedbuilder something like this?
@Klaus-Adler Yeah. Excellent work.
Yeah I think we can let that slip into the build Cody… It’s not the normal drab grey overall finish so go for it
