The T-34-85 Big Bore Campaign - No Small Bores allowed!
Like Dan, I’m tempted to start a T-34-85 now, its hard to wait when the motivation strikes. I’m bored senseless with the KV-1 that one the bench now.

I would like to think I am reasonable, I get what y’all are saying, I was going off old format. So the campaign is a year, I think we can move up the date to say 1 March if that’s what y’all want.
What does everyone say?
@Tank_1812 Ryan, I like the idea of March 1.
I will of course go along with your guidelines if the date is different.
With the campaign being one year, I don’t mind if we start 1 March.
March 1 would work for me.
@Armor_Buff will you do a log for your KV-1?
Ezra, Short version…no technical problems of my own doing.
Long version which is some what amusing per my fiance…
Kali cat is at my girlfriend’s house so I can’t blame anyone but myself for what follows. Besides Kali basically watches the model building and calls break times.
The new Tamiya #35372 KV-1 is one of those fantastically well designed kit. It’s wonderful and good out of the box which I opened last week. I have lost some parts out this brand new kit straight out of the shrink wrap…LOL
This is coming from someone that managed to not loose or misplace stuff for an OPEN flimsy boxed original Italeri Panzer IV kit owned for 33 years and six moves.
I can’t believe I lost parts out of a new kit in a weeks time.
This could be a divine sign from the Styrene Gawds to toss that KV-1 in the trash bin and start something else - <j/k>
Just wondering… does it really matter when we start with a “campaign” in the current configuration? There are no real rules or consequences attached to it all anymore, correct?
We could start right away for instance, since we no longer need to wait for the OK from a moderator, right?
It is “nothing more” then a group build.
RFM had announced a KV, but it seems to have quietly gone away.
Dan, I hope RFM eventually does their KV, there’s always room for another heavy Russian tank on my model shelf.
Me too! I love RFM kits
As far I can tell, you are correct on all accounts. I still like the spirit of the law even if powers to be have not full baked how to run campaigns in the new system.
Sounds like your motioning to start the campaign now?
Is there still enough pieces for creative diorama? Like maybe fell in a water filled ditch or was destroyed. Anything but the bin.
It’s mostly small stuff from B sprue, still digging around hobby desk looking for the parts. Found a couple of Fruil track links so far…
No, not motioning necessarilly.
I can understand wanting to preserve the “old ways”, but like I said the “rules” are not as strict anymore. If there still are any.
But somehow, with the coming of this new forum, I feel like the campaigns and what they entailed, went away along with the old forum. It just isn’t the same, so I wondered why we should adhere to the old rules as stricly as we used to.
My 2 cents is even if the campaigns currently arent running the same as the old forum I would still like to stick to the ‘rules’. By having a definitive start date, it gives me a sense of group anticipation - something to look forward to. It also adds a sense of structure to my builds. I will literally plan out a years worth of builds due to what campaigns I know are coming.
Otherwise its just the same as any old build. I can go to my stash and pull down a kit anytime I want. Nothing special about that.
All good points and some are outside the scope of what I can control. For our campaign I have modified the original post. Start time is 1 March til 1 April to give you that year to build. No small bore (ie 76). I think that covers all the compromising.
Let’s see how this works.
20 days til D-Day.
Very valid points
5 more day til we can start. I saw a Zvezda 76 build at the club build meeting and starting jonesing for this campaign.
