Man did I ever miss this one when you posted it Joel. True masterpiece with all the detailing, decaling and paint work bud. I think I’d go crazy with all those cals. Most beautiful turn out on this one ol’ buddy.
Wow
There sure is a lot going on in that build.
Excellent work
Rick
This one crossed the finish line, a winner. Over all beautiful work Joel.
@Kpnuts: thanks for the link, this is most useful!!!
@Joel; this tread has exceptional value for me, as a beginner car builder. Your GT1 is just marvellous!
My god, that thing looks just great, can’t get enough of it
Joseph, Rick, Jesper, & drabslab,
Thanks so much to all of you for your really most positive comments and those super thumbs up. It really means quite a lot to me to have this or any kind of feed back on one of my builds. After all, race cars aren’t exactly the main stay here, but a race car model is just a car model in a different form.
Drabslab you may be a beginner at car modeling, but it’s plastic modeling where basics are truly the most important aspect of any build. Nail the basics and you’ve got a winner for sure. Try to cover up poor basic workmanship with added on details, and it never looks right. But I’ve followed your builds on Aeroscale for years, and you’re no beginner my friend. Looking forward to following your builds right here in your new NetMaker home,
joel
Great stuff Joel, right up there with all of your work as a top quality build my friend. Great detailing and a superb paint and decal finish all round.
You’re right about the weird effect on the rubber, I’ve never seen that, but as Russ said just put it down to driver exuberance!
I think we all need to see a wide-angle shot of this sitting on the shelf amongst its brethren.
Cheers, D
Another great Porsche in your collection Joel. Fantastic finish on the car and the shots with the engine cover show your amazing attention to detail. Ditto Damian - should get all those Porsches lined up!
cheers
Michael
D,
Thanks so much for those more then kind words. It’s always greatly appreciated. As for a group photo of at least some of my Porsche race car builds, I just might do that.
Those tires are still driving me crazy as I’ve also never seen a tire literally start to flake, and those are Tamiya tires. the kit is a reissue, so age can’t be the problem. Most likely it was my fault.
joel
Michael,
thank you so much for your thumbs up, and for being along for the ride. Having you guys along and posting is literally the icing on the cake rather then just a view count. I’ve always taken every suggestion seriously, and have actually used some of them.
joel
Hi Joel
Wow! She looks a real stunner - the exterior finish is superb and the detail inside is beautifully handled!
I think I might steal a trick from you and to try to track down some of the Scale Finishes yellow - it looks like it could be a really useful paint to have handy for my usual aircraft subjects.
All the best
Rowan
Rowan,
I’m thrilled that you stopped by to checkout my Porsche 911 GT1 build.
As for the ScaleFinishes paints, here’s the link to his site:

@Merlin: be very careful, this car business is addictive
Hi Drabslab
There’s a car kit on its way to me at this very moment - another American '50s muscle car. Watch out for a review before long.
All the best
Rowan
Hi Joel
Thanks for the link. Their FS and RAL ranges look very interesting because I don’t think I’ve seen another manufacturer produce such a wide range of colours for modellers.
All the best
Rowan
Rowan,
His paints are fantastic, his service is 1st class. What’s more his paints seem to go much further then Gravity’s Lacquer paints.

Guys,
You’re not going to believe this, but earlier this morning I was watching some Porsche vintage race car vids from Porsche’s own footage. Anyway, here’s the Rothman’s 962C left rear tire. Sure looked like I had sanded it as it has the same peeling issues! Now that’s really strange. Here’s a snap shot of the tire from the vid.
joel
drabslab,
Now ain’t that the truth. I stopped by one day, and just never left.
joel
Maybe useful; for motorcycles but is more or less the same:
Over here, car modellers go wild over this brand:
