Mmmmmm, I swapped my head out for a Dragon GSG9 head in balaclava as I find LR’s too tiny, just a personal choice.
Even an English keyboard will do any foreign letter, using the alt key, used to work for a UK company dealing solely with German customers.
Alt key codes - look here https://www.alt-codes.net/ You can type in languages, foreign denominations, degrees, etc.
I found them a oddly small until I put the helmet on, but after that I thought it was passable enough. Which set is that running figure from? I need one exactly like that (but with outstretched arms) chasing down the tractor that’s towing away his vehicle. Something I’m already working on, but I thought I was going to have to modify a WWII figure with jackboots, which obviously would have been a real PITA.
After you do your 1st dozen boot conversions it gets easy…
Followed your advice for sponging the camo.
Much better look and much faster. Sore fingers tho - alot of dabbing.
I had to keep my paint very thick to hold the patterns - some lumping, have you noticed that?
And lost the pre-shadowing, will have to use glaze I’m thinking?
That sponge technique is money. Yours turned out very well. I wouldn’t worry at all about the pre-shading - just a little delineation between the body armor and the trousers and it’s perfect.
All good mate, they are Yaroslavs old line “TANK” modern Russians just before he started Live Resin….here’s a couple of images of the whole team.
@Recon22 are these figures still available, I’ve never seen them for sale anywhere?
Any place they would be for sale is probably inaccessible (Russia) at this time.
I’m still seeing Zvezda stuff pop up on eBay in Lithuania. I suspect that will be a sidestep route to still obtain such items.
For a big company like Z not an issue. LR/Tank is direct sells. The other companies that might have old stock are most likely all Russian companies. Even before this many Russian companies seemed to have a hard time with distribution out of the country for one reason or another.
Hi Klaus, mine were old stock I had in storage for a couple of years…but as mentioned by fellow modellers here they are and will be harder to get your hands on. In saying that you can go to the “dark side” and find the good old Chinese copies going cheap on eBay. I just did a search and got the below result.
That is probably why LR went to direct sales.
No doubt mate - Tank_1812
Looks like we could be in for some nice Live Resin items after the war stops and things get back to normal….came across this site https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Kn8gR
Where a LR portfolio is located…great stuff to come.
Today’s project will be this guy:
I’ll have to fashion a Makarov pouch and give him a 6b48. It’s actually two very similarly kitted guys, but you get the idea.

I believe you could convert the old U.S. Modern Army Infantry Set (the ones in skinny jeans, techo / rave look) to the high collar zip vest om the RU body armor using upper body
Those are French BDUs… (they must make theirs from a stretch material, as I can’t figure out how they got a range of motion in those things)
About all that old Tamiya set is good for are the weapons and gear. The M16A1s with 30 rd magazines are really nice. The ammo pouches, canteens, M17 mask carriers, helmets, etc. are nice as well. The figures suck.
The Miliput for the collar and hoodie is curing as I type this.
@Recon22 those figures look great, I’m assuming they’re modern figures, what would i have to do to convert them into Ukrainian soldiers? i take that they have almost identical kit, uniforms and weapons?
