The M2 OG Bradley

It’s not Opera Ghost? :ghost:

 :cowboy_hat_face:

Every once in a while I’ll build a derelict Bradley to add to the collection. But now all of those will have to be upgraded as well.

It’s a great reminder of one of our vacations. My son built huge azz bonfires outside the cabin every night, and my daughter got to TC a Bradley. This is just her climbing on a derelict one, but she got to ride in one of the brand new M2A3 rebuilds.

Well, mine are not perfect, but I do have a passion, the weld beads on the side armor is just fine stretched sprue, the sand colored one was a leftover parts build, kind of got a bit lazy with it, could have done more, but it was just a side project. I have another, lol, Tamiya kit bash from many years ago of an M3A1, with a really crappy M3 rear upper hatch, I’ll post pics after the weekend, jetting off to Austin for a long weekend after work

Every time I think I’m cloes to the point where I can just start attaching parts and finish, another mini-project rears its head. This time it was the fire suppression activator.

I thought about making one from paper first so I could get the right size. Then I thought about scoring the brass shim to make sharp bends. Ultimately, I trimmed off a strip of brass at what I thought waa the right width, eyeballed three bends, and trimmed off the excess.
Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. Add two bolt heads and done.

Hmmm. This looks about right.

Looks great! :+1:t3: I wish someone made a small PE set for the Bradley, with just that, the intake screens and some other minor stuff, the Edward sets have way too much

You’re serious? That is really what it means?

That’s exactly what I intended it to mean. Some call it the M2A0, which was never a real designation. Niether is OG for that matter. But it works so well. IYKYK

I like to upgrade the turret baskets with brass shim stock. The ones in kits are way too thick.

Finally. The last thing that has to be added to the hull - the additional armor plates around the gun firing ports:

I don’t know the purpose of the weird notches in the circles, but I have replicated them. All I need to do now is add some bolt detail. Also note swim barrier attachment near the upper left:

That one at least is obvious: to make it harder on the modeller.

I’m convinced a lot of decisions made by real-world vehicle designers, have been taken specifically as a long-term attempt at messing with modellers a generation later.

Agreed !!

Added bolts from .5mm hex rod. Am considering redoing with .8mm, which would make bolt heads almost exactly one inch. Trouble is, they don’t quite look one inch in the photos.

In fact, I’m definitely replacing them. Enlarging the photos show I added some of them sideways - too small to see even with the Opti-Visor.

And here I was thinking my stash of M60-ish stuff was big…

Shucks, my Centurion stash is bigger’n that. Of course it doesn’t show my Meng and Magic Factory kits. Even a few M2A2s.
But as my wife says when we’re talking about our daughter, it’s not a contest!

Where are these Bradleys stored that you have access to them. Good picture of your daughter in the unit.

They’re located at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. There’s a refit facility there.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the right side fire extinguisher setup and the one just below the drivers hatch?

The right side one appears squared off in the back, and covered.

Still looking for a back side view of the one by the driver’s hatch, but so far they look the same, including the bolt on top.

It’s tough to say. One might ask why they’d have two different type, but it’s the army after all. And the one at the very right rear is completely different.

A view of a museum piece, barely visible, shows it goes deeper front to back than I thought.

From Pete Becerra’s excellent walk around:

I’m starting to believe they are the same.

Clearly, the OG housings are different than the ones on the M3A3.
