Torsten's bench works

You took the words right out of my mouth, Torsten! The same goes for my humble builds and the photos I take of them…
Thank God for our Mk. I Eyeball which doesn’t reveal everything!

Looking forward to seeing it

Time for another project! This is one of the kits I bought last year directly at the Eduard Online Shop. It’s their Mustang Mk. IV as a Profi Pack. Some of you might remember that I’ve built a Tamiya P-51 B and D some years ago in the old Kitmaker Forum and now I think it’s time to try the Eduard kit … :slightly_smiling_face:

… a lot of plastic inside for a Profi Pack!

… explanation is easy. After I saw what options Eduard offers here, I decided to get an overtree to make it a dual combo …

… so all sprues are twice in the box now. Sprue A holds all clear parts …

… Sprue B comes with the wing parts …

… Sprue D has the fuselage parts …

… Sprue G comes with various parts for the wheel wells and others …

… Sprue H holds the cockpit and propeller parts …

… Sprue F comes with parts for the external tanks and other external loads which are not needed in these builds …

… the instruction is Eduard like a nice booklet again and 12 pages will lead me hopefully to another nice build …

… here are the very nice looking decals, again printed by Eduard. Hopefully they work as fine as on my Spitfires …

… PE-parts and masks …

… a closer look at the PE fret …

… and some extra stencils and national insignias for the dual build …

… the descision which version it should be was not easy, but finally I went for this colourful RCAF bird which can also be seen on the box art …

… the other version which converts this Profi Pack into a Dual Combo will be this nice RAAF Mustang, flown in Italy 1945. I really like the blue side rudder …

… sprues are already seperated in 2 boxes so I can start with the builds in the next days. And maybe some of you guys will accompany me along the way. :slightly_smiling_face:

Happy modelling!

Torsten I don’t know how into campaigns and group builds you are, but that 442 Mustang would be a welcome addition to the Canadian campaign that’s running.

The blue fin on the Royal Australian Air Force one has the Southern Cross on it. It is also on our National Flag. Nice choices in the Cannuck and Aussie ones. A nice splash of colour. I’ll be following along as usual.

Great choice, Torsten! I will follow these builds, too :sunglasses:

Torsten,
As your official car guy, I’ll be following alone for sure. Great choices for the two builds especially the NMF one.

Thanks for your feedback, guys! Great to know you beside me.

Don, I’ll check it out. If there’s enough time left, I could step in.

Peter, been to both countries (Australia 1989/90, Canada 1995) and both flags are hanging my rooms. Travelling is another hobby of mine.

Joel, I hope to achieve about the same result as on the F-80 lately with the NMF-Mustang.

Covid hasn’t stopped us going where we want to at all, mind you, we’ve been lucky and our summer holidays have coincided with the annual relaxation in travel restrictions.

Travel is a great way to broaden the horizons.

The Australian Government stopped travel overseas for a very long time. It is only recently that we have been permitted to travel abroad, but the flights are far fewer than they were and the cost is daunting at present.

Yes, i know its a particularly sore point with some Australians and Kiwis. We have friends in Freemantle, and they’re pulling their hair out.

Our government took a rather different approach and while it has been criticised by some, at least we were eventually able to conduct our own risk assessments and live accordingly. Its never going away, so might as well accept that you’re going to cop it sooner or later and get on with life in the meantime.

I hope you are soon able to enjoy your travel hobby!

Excellent scheme choices Torsten. That RAAF version with the Southern Cross on the rudder is beautiful and eye-catching, and having a Mustang in the RCAF camo scheme beside an NMF build will make a wonderful display.

I’m also loving that you are like me in the dual-build habit, I think more folks should join us!

Looking forward to progress reports.

Hey D!

Two builds??? Lol not likely buddy, I struggle enough with completing things as it is! Great to see you around D. I look forward to following more of your “DUO” builds.

Thanks D!

I think the major problem for most of us doing dual builds is, that you have to do everything twice. It’s sure easier if you have 2 kits of the same build on the bench than 2 different ones. But I also do a lot of single builds, especially when I build vehicles.

Have started yesterday with the Mustangs, so there’s nothing worth to show yet. As usual started with the cockpits. Many clamps are at work now. Prepare the parts for painting.

I’ll be away for Easter, so I think first progress pics I can show in the week after Easter.

Torsten, wonderful Chipmunk you built. Your F-80 is also awesome. As is your signature symbol.

Think of it like this - your masterful models encourage us mere mortal modelers because we see that great modelers like you can have blemishes, too. Makes me feel better about my abominations and yet inspire me to continue to improve to your level.

Looking forward to your P-51s.

Just discovered this thread. Don’t know how I missed it till now but it’s been an entertaining read the past few days as I caught up. Haven’t made aircraft models since old Airfix kits many decades ago and good to see how things have moved on. Your aircraft are amazing. I’ve enjoyed every one.

You’re too kind, Fred! Thanks a lot! But as I wrote somewhere during the F-80 build, I’m no high end builder (there are many others around here but not me) and am no fan of PE parts. I only use them when they’re useful. Most of the Eduard PE parts are not really necessary. As I look at the Mustang cockpit parts, it looks really nice right out of box. I will only use a few. I would call myself also just an ordinary model builder who tries his best to get a good result …

Keef, also thanks to you for your nice feedback! I’m glad to hear that you like what you see here. This thread has indeed turned into some entainment for everyone here since the start. It would be great if it’s a little inspiring for others.

Have a nice Sunday!

But Torsten, just concentrating on one build at a time for me is practically a full time job.
