Welcome back to the plasticfront!
Good choice.
Good to see you back Zsolt. I remember you from ages ago!
The old Forum was archived back in February 2021.
Everyone had to create a new profile and their old badges were not linked into the new forum. As you say, plenty of time to start accumulating new ones.
Cheers Peter
Welcome back.
I believe this will be my entry for the campaign. Hasegawa 1/72 Flak 18, probably came out when I was a kid. I tried hand painting the kill rings by hand, need to fix that. Need to finish the ammunition cases an then mount everything on the base. Was thinking of using a putty that dries hard for grounwork.
Yes, the Silly version just doesn’t quite do the trick.
Looks good so far.
But yes, the rings need fixing and yes, you need to finish it.
Silly guy…
Dragon Panther G Steel Wheel
I wanted to build this for Unfinished Business 2024 but could not find the tracks.
Very early this morning, I discovered the tracks in the back of a closet, stored in an old cottage cheese container.
Huh.
Anyway, I need to finish some other stuff but this will be my entry.
Always good to see a Panther! Welcome aboard!

Construction is done accept for what you see, some etch parts, and 4 lost parts.

Masking and priming this thing took over 5 hours. Would you like some road wheels with your road wheels? Primer is not terribly interesting but I like to let the campaign leader know when painting is underway.
Now…a dilemma. I am provided with 4 possible finishing options.
For giggles, I decided to put some effort into research. The fact these books are now 30 and 20 years old is rather distressing.
Option 1 is depicted as a hard edge camouflage scheme on a green base. That is doable. I have not found a picture.
Option 2 represents a vehicle from 16th Panzer Division at some point during the long retreat toward Germany. I found lots of pictures of white Panthers but not this specific tank.
Option 3 is also depicted as hard edge camouflage on a green base. I found a picture of this vehicle. The camouflage pattern is what I like to call, “Blaaarrgg AHHHH!” In other words, it is impossible to discern the pattern because a crud pinata exploded all over it.
Option 4 appears in the Jentz book but without the number. The camouflage was probably applied at a factory using a decent airbrush. Curiously, I found a different Panther 233 with zimmerit.
I need to decide by tomorrow morning.
The green-based vehicles would likely be the production runs from January 1945 until the end of the war, with the other colors being hard-edged as you mentioned. The last option is likely green-based as well and the white one probably is underneath that whitewash.
Seems the only real options are green-based hard edge with or without winter whitewash.
or you could do the straight line, hard edge camo like the Grossdeutschland division appears to have used in either camouflage or white.
Campaign leader out…

Having read a few books and consulted various websites, many with conflicting information, I cannot determine how to correctly paint this model. Three of the marking options call for an olive green base coat so I went with that.
@RonW Those zigzag Panthers are very cool. I have wanted to build one since 2008 or so.
Edit: Does anyone know if a cheap Das Werk/Takom Panther is generally correct for one of the zigzag Panthers above?
Okay… There are so many shelf queens to choose among…
But it will be the Dragon three jeep desert raider kit. What is left is the machine guns, painting and a base. Here is the current state.
Nice!
Looks good.
