Congratulations on finishing! Considering the age and rough nature of the model, and the difficulty laying down metallic paints, that is a great result.

The paint is just aerosol can “chrome” over primer. The under side has dry spray because the stick that was holding the saucer for painting was coming loose so had to spray upward awkwardly

It’s kinda funny. Sometimes a spray can can produce a really good result. Many years ago I belonged to a model car club. A few of those guys achieved excellent finishes using spray cans. On the other hand, I have seen airbrush finishes crash and burn many times.

I’m calling this campaign finished.
When battling UFOs and aliens on the battlefield or inside a UFO, it pays to be properly equipped. This soldier comes with a soft armored powersuit made of materials and seals to protect against alien pathogens, and carries a M-97 25mm pulse rifle with a 15-round clip firing high explosive armor piercing (HEAP) rounds. He wears a ballistic helmet with overhead identification biometrics transmitter, forward radar, night vision scope; white, infrared, and blinding dazzler lights; alien language microphone, and battery pack. The helmet sensors feed into a dropdown monocular in his helmet (not shown). He has on a throat microphone and wears soft flush earphones for communications and to block out noise. He has on a neck helmet ring for a full astronaut helmet if necessary.
On his backpack is a satellite communications backpack with antenna, unmanned systems control antenna; various computers including an alien language translator, drone controller; situational map, UFO and alien library; and a squad communications antenna with Identify Friend-Foe mini computer. A face mask with breathing filter device is the green half dome on the side of the backpack to cover the entire face in case of alien pathogen and gas attacks.
His vest is festooned with pouches including smoke grenades, fragmentation grenades, spare 25mm clips, first aid pouch, a stun gun, zip ties, mini radar discs, a metal welder/burner, a water bottle, and a multifunction flashlight.
The plastic figure is Takom’s 1/16 HO 229 WW2 pilot outfitted with a 1/16 Legend Production’s MICH resin helmet and Airborne Miniatures’ spare 1/16 resin pouches and backpack. The 1/16 Sci-Fi gun was a custom order 3D print from @MikeyBugs . The diamond floor is cut from a cookie package plastic tray and the black plinth is from GreenStuffWorld. The (not cheap) UFO coin is from ETSY and the other side shows a Communion alien head of almond black eyes, nostrils, and thin mouth.
I slung the pinstripe gun strap below the gun because I didn’t want the strap to be across on the figure and cover any vest details.
The clear pilot’s helmet was a nightmare to superglue together and I made a mess of it. The clear parts wouldn’t stick together even with Gorilla Glue to I didn’t even bother to place it under the right arm like in the cover art.
It was all painted pretty fast using AK Interactive Markers and washed with Vallejo washes and drybrushed with Mig’s Drybrushing paint.
The idea for this figure came from the 3D-printed Sci-Fi guns which I have about seven to choose from. I wanted a 1/16 figure to carry a ridiculously large Sci-Fi gun and the UFO Campaign fit this idea perfectly. (I also wanted that cool-looking UFO Campaign ribbon). The Takom 1/16 HO 229 pilot was a purchase gamble since I don’t build WW2 figures; however, it worked out well and this is the result.

That is just fantastic. When I conceived this campaign, your figure is exactly the sort of thing I had in mind. The description of the soldier is perfect. The metal UFO deck plate is perfect. The suit is perfect. The gun is perfect. The equipment load is perfect. Thank you for joining. Very well done.

What a great background story and cool details on the figure! Have you considered creating the new realm/universe? Like the next, Kow Yokoyama and Hiroshi Ichimura or write and illustrate for Heavy Metal Magazine.

@KoSprueone and @Damraska , thank you for the kind words and the “UFO campaign.” It really was a unique campaign topic and I don’t think I would have created this figure for the “Sci-Fi Campaign” that I tend to enter more OOTB instead of using my imagination to fulfill a requirement.
@KoSprueone , I did do Sci-Fi/Fantasy creative writing for publication many years ago. The requirements for submission are either very short (Flash Fiction) or very long (5,000+ words) and competition is very fierce for acceptance into publication. Sci-Fi publishers actually want novelists. Even the Sci-Fi magazines and published online Sci-Fi story websites are now impacted with authors trying to get published. Pay is generally low to non-existent because it’s creative writing, not journalism (news). For the time spent creative writing, and the many rejections, an author can be stuck with the same story and spend (a lot) of time pitching and trying to get it published. One has to accept the rejections and keep on writing. Hence I find creative writing suits my modeling a lot better where the story is the background and the model is the attention-getter and the spotlight piece to showcase what I have in my mind 
.
I won’t give up creative writing; however, I just don’t have the time and dedication now to put much effort into it anymore knowing how competitive the Sci-Fi/Fantasy writing market really is. Oh, yes, there is definitely a demand for creative writing…and there is also a huge supply of writers too…and once accepted and published in creative writing, one has to keep on writing creatively because the audience, editors, and publishers want it…that’s how one gets famous in creative writing (and possibly rich if the publisher wants a novel or the Sci-Fi story is made into a movie).

Firestorm
It took 4 days to prime Firestorm. It did not occur to me until this step that I am building an aircraft, not a tank, and actually need to pay attention when slinging paint. Thankfully, there was only one minor issue to sand out.

In order to help UFO builders, I am extending UFO to February 28, 2026. Matt did the same for the M113 campaign. I thought that was really awesome so I will do the same thing here.
