Concerning the old wood fence.
Here is some pictures of the real stuff. There is many different types.
I agree, after all: WW2 period, eastern europe, rural (not city) environment, wooden house… the neat brick wall looks a bit misplaced…
Yes that’s a fact! I have prepared a nice piece of balsa wood.
Working with the fence right now. Testing different way of painting the wood sticks.
I tend to agree with Bert about that brick wall Erik. Obviously you know and understand that area a lot better but to me that brick wall just looks a little to neat and tidy for being alongside that farm house and all the wood…
The work on the wooden picket fence looks very good… It’s almost a complete match to a few of the pics you posted. There are lots to pick a style from, would one farmer mainly stick to the one type ? Or vary the styles for different purposes ?
It all looks so realistic and the test figures look and fit into it really well and look in perfect relationship to the fence
Thanks John! I think the farmer pick one style. The different styles are from different parts of Sweden, Finland and Estonia, all districts have their style and tradition.
The new set up / mockup for replacing the brick wall looks like this. The leafs etc are just for illustration.
This new series of images is the one that gets my vote Erik. The figures with how they are positioned is perfect, and the Hetzer is just the right size as not to dominate the scene, it just becomes part of it, instead of the focal point. I love the way the bike is propped up against the wood wall and the guy sat on it with the rest in their own little scene around him and the dog being stroked.
You also have left enough room for a good section of picket fence on at least part of the grassed area, as now I have scene it, you have to include it , it looks to good to leave out and really adds to the rural feel of it.
One thing I would say about the figures though; All the ones in the scene with the Hetzer are all well balanced to show a semi relaxed, and very non combat scene, it definitely has a relaxed feel so I think any weapons for the figures should be rested or laid close by them and not held in a more combat ready pose, if that makes sense ?
Thanks John! Yes the fence and other soldiers will be included as planned. And as you say, of course the guys showed above will not hold any weapons in their hands. I think this is going to be a great build, I have a good feeling and things are going as planned , even if the time to have it ready to end of October is a little short. Sometimes it’s good to be pushed by time:) /Erik
Hi, is that thegroup that was in the foreground, discussing where to go.?
Yes, the latest pictures just show the new background design (brick wall removed) and the set of figures looking at Fritz.
The fence and set of figures that are planning the defense line will be added.
Lots of really cool work going on here! Plus that series of reference pics for wood fences is brilliant!

That nose is just beyond ridiculous!
Sorry, I don’t get what you mean?
Aha now I understand which picture you referred to. Yes that nose is outstanding:)
During lunch today I start building the little firewood building. I will build a little path on the side of the house.
Cheers
Just eat your damn lunch Erik lol…
Seriously… That little addition looks very nice … Great idea
Well that was just over much time John! Today at dinner time I made a test piece to see hove it will work to airbrush the groundwork black and then paint it. I have not done this before so a small test is always needed.
I will now add a fence like the one I showed, I will also add more grass and details.
This is very interesting indeed, I think it will be really nice.
Cheers
PS So far I have just used black and brown colors.
Gotta say Erik, that looks very good with the test piece. What lengths of grass flock did you use ? I do need to get a few different lengths and colours to add some variations on ones I do.
Thanks John! I use mixed 3-6 mm grass.
I forgot to glue the small stones on the road, so I covered the road with white glue and water.
Then I had some hours to put the fence together, I used both lead wire and thread.
I will add more high grass at the fence and some flowers etc. But that’s tomorrow’s breakfast work:)
Cheers
Great idea, it may of started out as a test piece, but you can easily create another little gem with it …
