Have been watching this for some time and I have to say. I love the way it is going. Detailing is great, and I actually love the used and abused look … its a tank thats seen heavy heavy action and been in constant use. There is a very realistic build up of dirty and dust in all the key areas. This also has wonderful colour balance in the OD paint and subtle tone variation.
My only one area I think looks a bit out of place is the shell impact to the turret side. What ever hit the turret side was very large calibre and a full side on shoot… and as there is no add on armour there, I would of said anything that large in calibre would of gone straight through and killed the tank (unless it was a dud round) … maybe a lot smaller calibre that bounced off or a deflected shot that hit at an angle and didnt penetrate ?
Regardless of that, its a superb build and as I said, I love the weathering on it

Just… Wow! I’d swear I’m looking at a real Sherman right there, with real tools and having driven around for a couple weeks. Your work is really incredible, the attention to detail and the realism of your details is superb.

I found that box which i bought years ago an never used it. So i thought lets give it a try, see how it works. Turns out it makes rust effects easy as it is removable. Not sure wether the rust had be done bevor the dust and dirt maybe.

Your are absolutly right, its far to big, but it would be hard to change, so maybe i leave it as it is for this time.

I wish I had got one of those rust sets … it looks really good … Must keep an eye out for one or something similar …
And it was just an observation about the size of the impact dent on the turret … it does not detract from this exceptional build in any way … and hey … like I said, it could easily have been a dud round … that dent though is a prime candidate for your rust treatment

Here some updates, as we have 34 degrees outside i stayed inside
All the different layers of paint have created a very intresting surface if you look on the zoomed pictures, unintentionally
I did put some darke tone where the crew is moving etc

I found some sandbags which were to small for the 1/6 Sherman but i guess they are to big for the 1/16:
I printed some bedrolls and did a quick paint to see how they look, but seems they are to big too so i going to reprint them:

Getting better and better each time

Hm, do they look realistic enough, not sure about the color, maybe they need dust to match the tank

I did a prototype of a “real” bedroll made ut of a old shirt with brass, what do you think is it worth the effort to make al of them real stuff:

smaller straps, perhaps to fit some AM buckles, and a finer weave material.

I think trying to make real rolls looks better, but only if you make the straps smaller and a finer weave, like @DAKjunkie said. Other than that, they look great!

I am starting with lighter colors, its much easier to darken light then lighten dark (Hm, sounds a bit like Lord of the rings). The printed boxes do lack a bit of fine detail like value gear products, but lets see what we can get out of it with painting. In the meantime the printer is working on another batch so we can make all errors and improve. For the wood color i mixed what seems look like wood, there are special wood colors but i cant buy new colors every time.

Nicely done. The crates look kinda shiney in the pictures. Is that just lighting? Would some light pigment take care of that and add some texture?
