What did you do in your modeling workshop today?

You might want to Google “V8 engine Christmas ornaments” for your projects.

I have a few and my wife hates them.

Back in November, my PSM Green Archer had an unfortunate accident when a Tamiya square bottle of zip kicker fell on it.

This morning I started the repairs with debonder to get the chunk of CA and printing resin off the front glacis.

Fortunately, I have several sets of spare M113G Bundeswehr headlamp assemblies.

Now I have to figure out how to mask and paint it, if I can remember what colors I used.

That’s a BIG question! My experience with link and length tracks has been less than favorable and the end result is a funky looking mess, indy tracks are tedious no doubt but they look so much better. However . . . I’ve never tried assembling indy tracks that have multiple parts per link or track block, that would be where I’d have to draw the line and go with rubber-band tracks.

Hey Terry:
Here are a couple of track jigs I use.

The one on the bottom is a vintage Squadron track jig form the early/mid 90s and is built like a tank.

The top one is a Trumpeter track jig tool and it’s nice because the edges are undercut to hold the links in place when you slide all the links together and glue them.

Of course, you could probably make the same thing with firing strips or a cut up wooden yard stick. (That’s a 0.914 meter stick for all you Europeans)

Added fiddle bits, plus mantlet cover and muzzle brake etc. The Panther is parked waiting on spare track links. I forgot to pack those.

Did a little Panzer IV research for a latter project then dived into build #11 a Tamiya Panzer 38(t)

Just over 2 hours, as this kit literally is falling together

I greatly dislike link & length tracks. Old or new whatever link & length tracks always seem suck-taclular compared to individual link. Link and length is always a major negative for any kit in my book.

Even the baby panzer above will be getting its L&L’s replaced.

So do you guys have a favourite brand of track makers? For a Sd.Kfz.251 project I was planning on using Fruilmodel. Any thoughts, experiences?

I’d probably check into Minor 1/35 3D printed fully workable tracks for Sd.Kfz.251.

They look sharp but I’ve not used the product. Hopefully someone with first hand experience will comment.

Fruilmodel has great products in general but I’ve not purchased products since the company was sold and got new ownership.

My favorite was Sector35 from Ukraine :ukraine: until the war disrupted supply. Often Sector35’s could be purchased assembled for less than the cost of Fruilmodel’s.

R-Model & Sanxin also white metal tracks. There so many 3D offerings thst may be worth considering too.

I tried using the DEF Model 3D-printed tracks, but they didn’t work too well for me. I went with the AFV Club rubber band tracks and they worked much better.

Being new to the hobby I am willing to look at all avenues in aftermarkets. I am somewhat skeptical on reviews I read or watch as most of the reviewers get paid somehow and can be a bit bias. I would rather take peoples opinions from experience, than through my own trial and error. #1 reason for joining this forum.

As for my mad skilz level, I have a lot of patience for cleaning and assembly. I’m not in a rush. I think I spent close to 22 hours completing the RFM 196 links, that’s an average of 6 min 45 sec per link.

I don’t have those but other Minor track (Kettekraftrad). I like them and would buy more. :+1::+1:

I made a capital mistake to think smart (#not) to glue the roof first, in stead of the doors first :anguished::flushed::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:. So now we have open doors :sunglasses:

@ TeeAge. Your HANOMAG looks very good!
As for open doors, no chance of that with this kit. It is the 1/72 version and the sides are molded as one piece. :hammer_and_wrench:

@ Gerrit (Killnoizer). I was born in Kitzingen and I still have distant relatives in Cologne. :grinning:

Been working on this for a few week now. The lower hull and running gear have been weathered and the upper hull and turret painted. Need to clean up some of the overspray of the white patches before gloss coating and weathering. It’s the MiniArt T55A Polish production done as a Polish track on winter maneuvers sometime in the 60s.

Working through the night with my wife ( in her laboratory :face_with_monocle: ) so i have to interrupt the program and put some 100 stickers on her stuff … Nice to help her.

But also the paint job on the 262 tank went very well ,

Now it’s clear: you don’t smoke, you just sniff! And during this visit to your wife’s laboratory, something potent was successfully spilled there, because this crawler tricycle turned out great!
