Nice area. And you know what they say about someone with a neat and clean desk - don’t trust 'em!
Great paint. Sharp and real.
Great scene Paul, my only really big criticism is the guy with the bren … He is committing a major faux pas in French haute couture… You never go with black and brown… The French usually have an impeccable sense of dress …
Lovely work mate- the finish on the car is superb and its nice to be able to see into the interior with the open door. The figs are well done too- all interacting well with each other and placed nicely on the base. That’s also a great piece- plenty of realistic dirt and debris about.
Main painting on my Airfix Vampire is done now …
Used paints are Revell Black 302, Yellow 310 and Aluminum 99.
Im trying to be inclusive with a sartorially challanged one😁
Thank you very much Karl.
What was the old adage? “Never brown when in Town”.
On a separate note - well done Paul - love it! Understated, nice little vignette. Just waiting to bump up against Das Reich or say, Violette Szabo(!)
Such are the trevails of mass production.
Lovely. Very nice gentle chipping and paint wear. Just about the perfect balance and the pigment on the wheels is just right … Gotta love a Panther …
Making headway on the drill rig - aside from a few bolt heads and so on, this is about ready for some paint:
More and more odds and ends added - levers, winches, hydraulics, and so on. I’ve kept the mast moveable, which will ideally help with painting and stringing up two winches that would be hard to reach otherwise.
Cheers
Nick
Are you in the truck/auto business @Stickframe ? Retired engineer? You do fabulous work that looks completely real. Kudos dude.
Been a very quiet day here. The Wife continues to recover from her surgery and I got more workshop time than I thought I’d get.
Amusing Hobby actually angled one set of end connectors for the track links so the connectors would sit flat against the sprockets between the teeth, like the real thing.
This is the first time I’ve seen this on any individual link tracks that are “glued” together.
Anyhow, it wasn’t bad after the first two sets; a little blue tac, a little tape…
Most of the parts count was the tracks. Should be pretty smooth sailing from here.
I’ve been following your build and really like the finished scene concept. My only constructive criticism is the guy with the Sterling/Sten pointing it at the guy with the Bren. Being a light SMG and in a relaxed situ maybe his right arm could be dropped so it is pointing down?
Thank you Barney. A fair comnent , but its a paralax thing… boreline of sten passes between Mr Bren and car door
Ah, better perspective from above .
I did some weathering/ mud practice
Vallejo earth material. Base coated with a combo of Pactra Dirt and Tamiya khaki drab paint (i think). Numerous wash layers of Pactra dirt, Vallejo splash mud and Vallejo streaking grime.
Hi Arch - Thanks! but no, my background isn’t in engineering or have anything to do with auto/trucks. I just enjoy giving it a go! I re-started model building about ten years ago, as a way to not think about real work!
For many years I travelled frequently and far away for work and had plenty on my plate, consequently I was perpetually jet lagged and worrying about projects. I started model building and realized that the only way a guy could do that, and have any decent results was to focus on the projects and worry about work when I was at work. For the last few years I’ve been consulting, which means when I’m busy with work I do it, but when things are slow, I can do this.
Happy model building,
Cheers
Nick
