What did you do in your modeling workshop today?

Like Captain Lockheed said;“wuh, wuh, for white”

Priming my Skyraider

Nothing worth a pic today. Spent my time painting crates and a duffel, cutting lumber, building a cooler and some other odds and ends. Should be able to load this wagon up and get on with the gen trailer later in the week. Just ordered the Tamiya cable for the spools but I’ll be able to drop that in later.

After a time without building i went on with a Steampunk Version of the HP Heyford , based on the 70’s Matchbox Kit.

Converted with only one longer wing and Jet - like engines, made from droptanks and rockets .

I bought this monster back in 2011 at the UK War and Peace show in Beltring in Kent. Quite a show.

I made a minor start back then, but it has since sat in a cupboard until a couple of weeks ago and have now progressed things this far with some concerted effort.

The semitrailer so far:

Next was some work on the chassis of the tractor unit:

These two publications are providing much good reference material, including some excellent 1/35 scale drawings of both intermediate and late types.

When I first bought this kit I had ideas of perhaps an Iranian version, with a Chieftain atop, but with events of the last couple of years, a Ukrainian version is a must. Not sure what to put on it yet, but I do have a Trumpeter T-84 with Ukrainian markings, or plenty of Western AFV’s that would also fit the bill.

A big project for me, to fit in around many smaller builds!

Challenger, Abrams, Leo 2, etc. would look strange atop but correct … :+1:

Got as far as loading the work gear in the dump box today. I have some decals to add tomorrow then I’ll be starting on the HobbyLink MEP trailer.

No cable on the spools yet. That’s on order and I can dress the spools up later as they’re just dry-fitted between the lumber I used to secure them.

Just cleaning here… I need to re-arrange my space after the Shapeways Collapse and Move my 3D printers to a more dedicated area. Hopefully this weekend I’ll get to the actual bench removal/reconstruction.

Finished my 110…well almost. Have to glue the landing light and radio antennas next.

While that was happening, I started my next build :see_no_evil:

This was the first airline I joined. They were powered by the IAE V2500 engines while the 320 kit comes with the CFM56 engines. Thankfully the A319 kits has both the engine types in it, so I’ll be using the engines from there.

Plan to use white metal gear, resin wheels and wingtip fence. My first civil aircraft in over 9 years so hope I don’t mess it up

Your 110 is a real stunner, its one of my favourite aircraft and yours is a real inspiration for me to build another one.

Congratulations on some superb work.

Did some test painting on the “stock” Mattel Eagle landing pad, and the aftermarket version I’ll end up using. Same color used on each version.
Hard to tell from this pic, but using gloss black as the base coat adds some depth to the top aluminum coating. The center strut will be “chromed” once all the feet are painted.

Earlier this week I finished my Zero, which is part of my double build Zero/Rufe … :slightly_smiling_face:
Most paints used come from Vallejo, decals are from the kit. Kit is Eduard ProfiPack 1/48

Mitsubishi A6M3 Type 32 “Zero”
204. Kokutai
Rabaul, April 1943
Pilot: Ldg Seaman Kenji Yanagiya

Kenji Yanagiya would have been an average Zero pilot but one mission made him famous as he was the only war surviving escort pilot of the Yamamoto mission on 18. April 1943. He shot one P-38 down on this sortie. On the 8. June 1943 he was severly wounded in a fight over Guadalcanal. On his return to the base his right arm had to have amputated and he was send to Japan for further hospitalisation. By October 1944 he had recovered enough to become an instructor for new pilots but could never fly again. He is credited with at least 8 aerial victories. In April 1988 he met Rex Barber and other surviving P-38 veterans from the Yamamoto mission at the Admiral Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg/Texas. He was surprised by the big welcome for him there (“That would never happen to me in Japan!”). He died in Tokyo in 2008, just weeks before turning 89 years old.

Started on the MEP-804 today. I released the axle* and mounted it on the frame. The precision of these HobbyLink sets really impresses me. The axle could have been set in place without CA but I used some anyway.

  • A spare axle is provided but there’s little chance you’d need it as the piece detaches quite easily.

No hobby tomorrow as there’s a minor procedure I’m due at the hospital.

Hobby on folks!

Pre shaded under surfaces and shadow areas with flat black.
