Nice work.
Great stuff. Off and running! Mine has been “resting” for the winter here in Oz, but my first Sherman too. Love 'em!
Well begun!
Just wait till you guys build your third or fourth Sherman. You get a feeling for them, like a trusted old dog, and they become familiar and comfortable. Then you find out how many variations there were and you want to build all the little quirks and differences.
Thanks !
That’s exactly why I have only ONE Sherman in my stash. One Tiger I too. I tend to be a completist, and I’d want EVERY possible variation on both. Instead I try to limit myself to nothing older than Viet Nam era. I’ve got a zillion Leopard IIs and Abrams; if I did the same with Shermans or Tigers I’d be broke in months.
Matt, that’s a scary thought! Always been AFRAID of exactly that!
Ten versions of Pz IV, translated in to 40+ kits in the stash. Three Panther versions resulting in ~27 kits. The same ratios applied to the Sherman and my ~300 kit stash will become ~750+
I’d be in very hot water!
I’ll probably need to limit my Sherman kit purchases exclusively to Ryefield Model’s kit.
The Sherman suspension is pretty interesting for sure. There’s an elegance to bolted on boggies. I think the British Challenger stayed with a bolt on boggie system vs torsion bar etc…looks like field repairs would be easier wirh boggies than torsion bar suspension.
Matt, I feel the same way about my King Tigers.
Not including Stugs, I have 19 different production models of the Panzer III.
In fact, I am trying for at least one of every vehicle physically produced past the initial prototype featured in Doyle and Jentz’s encyclopedia of German WWII armor. Fortunately that’s only a couple hundred vehicles.
That is at least three kits right there for VVSS.
Fenders in place, fuel tank and (all) mudflaps. I was wondering how to replace the “a m general” logos with Crane Carrier Corp ones, but some research indicates the M920 was also later built by AM General.
Looks good. Good recovery.
Canopy in place fuselage mostly painted, though it needs some slight touch ups, as well as the cowling, hopefully I will have it finished by the weekend. Plus Tomorrow, the T-38C I ordered should be arriving.
Me and Mrs. K did a trip to the local Architecture Shop ( heaven on earth ) for the First time . We are both into Art Stuff since the 80’s and we had a lot to talk with the friendly guy in the Shop.
Did you have enough money? It’s like buying food when you’re hungry - you always end up with more than you need.
Especially when you went with my wife in a shop like this … We payed Cash 5 times, and discovered something more again.
They have a lot much more online, but also have some vintage stuff in the shop that is never been online.
After manymany months, cleaned up the path to workbench and started working on something.
Decided to start something simple, so I took out Italeri’s M-163 Vulcan kit in 1:72.
Unfortunately, turret of this thing is a complete disgrace. I think I’ll just slap it together for some painting practice…
Wow. Excellent work there.
Thanks! Managed to scrounge up another TOW missile, gonna add it to one of the Bradleys
