Bogie day for the M4A4 Sherman
~800+ parts worth of subassemblies wrapped…
Hopefully tomorrow it will start looking a little bit like a tank!

The 2S1 on the trailer looks super Angel. Will be an impressive size with the cab done and hooked up to it all. ![]()
That looks fantastic !!
I think Bonanza was just cancelled after Dan Blocker died, and also because it was competing with All in the Family and the ratings crashed. It had a really good run.
Impressive! Are those filterless Camels? Man, the money I used to make off of those…
Working on the Masterbox road to the rear kit
I scratch built the deck and rails with bass wood and added wood grain texture to all parts. The civilian figures and 1 horse aren’t too bad but the second horse is a hot mess. Warping and core shift on the second horse yet nothing else on the same sprue has any of these defects. The neck is too wide for the body, the rear hips are too wide for the piece of strap that goes across the rear end… I didn’t bother taking any pictures of that struggle.
The wagon is painted in a tan craft acrylic then a wash of Tamiya brown panel liner. And most of the iron fittings are painted Tamiya NATO black.
None of the body is glued to the running gear yet as everything is still in progress.
I had to start the driver figure to determine where the basswood seat needs to go.
Came across a small issue
with suppled track, lvtp7.
Interesting extra supplies. ![]()
Looting!
I - - spent some time…out of the shop today
and when I returned, out I went again with models in hand for some good pictures of the vehicles I’ve been working on that will eventually be used in a diorama. At this point, there is no longer a good reason to not start work on the dio. So, in no special order, the vehicles I’ll be using:
I reshot some pictures of the F350. The sky was more clear today than when I took these the first time - and you can actually see the detail of the truck. And, first time outside for the straddle carrier:
I’ve been looking forward to taking these - the natural light is great! And, on another:
The F-450 - despite my numerous efforts to ruin this build, I like how it turned out, though the front wheel camber - well, lets say it was better and now, well, it looks about as used as the rest of the truck, so maybe a small victory! Get some new lower ball joints on this truck!
And the J-10:
This is a bit of a bummer - I had bad luck with some spray paint on the body - which is too bad, because the conversion worked out pretty well - but, as this is supposed to look like a work truck and not a trailer queen, were good to go! The various washes of weather (somewhat) obscure the not great paint work.
And, the Marmon Harrington:
I really like this old rat of a truck! I also went well out of my way to destroy this several times along the way
In some ways i guess, like a guy might with an 80 year old 4x4 dually! lots of booger welds and general decrepitude.
And the Type 87 baja bug:
Unlike the J-10, paint and weather worked just fine on this - I added a few decals. And finally, for the sake of rounding all of this out, the converted MK23 MTVR, which as you might recall, received a longer bed, solid axles, and a piggy back fork lift:
So now, there is only one more vehicle to build, a resin Hyster forklift kit, but I’ll let that go for a while, and start the weathering process of a lot of small strips of basswood. The dio will be of a lumberyard composed of several old buildings. On we go
Nick
Had a brief moment of warmth so I put some primer down on my entries for Convoy! Pt 2 and Got Hitched, plus the interior of the IL-2M for Made In The USSR. Running out of primer so making a run to HobbyTown USA tomorrow but in the meantime since I had no primer for my Tiger Battalion entry, I started a second Tiger:
I am doing this as the final option. If I get this one done before it warms up enough to paint again I may start one of my early versions.
First test fitting of the crane on the truck. The tow chain is still missing but already painted. Hopefully this build is in its final stages … ![]()
Trying out a battery powered compressor with the included cheap airbrush for the first time and also using Real Color for the first time. So base colour over a black primer, need to go back over it as I missed a few spots.
Second track run is now complete just waiting for me to finish the wheels.
Put some work into the cab today. The embossed instrument panel would benefit from a decal instead but there’s nothing in the spares box. The p/s seat legs needed to be trimmed down to fit the transmission tunnel in the cab floor. Fitting the hood (wip) means the hinges needed to be cut back and a groove cut into the firewall to accommodate them. Next step is fitting the cab onto the frame and installing the motor.
