What did you do in your modeling workshop today?

Completed OD base paint job on the Commander Models WW2 M1918 GPF. I’ve been experimenting with a 4 color hairspray process. It gives it a scuffed worn appearance.

Here is my process on the OD.
Base coat of XF-62 OD (not lightened)
Sealed with Alclad Gloss Klear Kote
Tresemme hairspray
Very thin, uneven coat of XF-49 Khaki
Scrubbed off about half of the Kahki with a water dampened brush
Sealed with Alclad Gloss Klear Kote
Another coat of hairspray
Very light, uneven coat of XF-57 Buff
Scrubbed off about half of the Buff with a water dampened brush
It was still a bit darker than desired, so I misted it with a light transparent, uneven coat of XF-71 Cockpit Green.

It’s a long process; but it is the only method I’ve found that gives this distressed, ground in dirt look. Next step is a dot filter to provide some depth to the color and detail painting.

Nice one, you’ve got the paint job spot on. The dusty appearance is really well done.

Hello!
Made M198 from Trumpeter.

I would love to paint it like in the picture.

Tell me the color please. Better Mr. hobby. In my set, such a palette is not provided, although others, including those in 1/16 scale, have it, but I cannot see what paint is indicated there.

I remember my dad smoking the unfiltered camels and that was well after the war.

I am in Europe now, first to visit family and friends, but eventually for university. My uncle has let me choose a kit from his stash, and I have chosen a Takom Blitz 1:35 StuG III G (Late Prod.) (8006). This will be a great first model on the European Front, and hopefully wil also end up with 3D-printed tracks and a figure (or two?).

I’ve begun the suspension. One side is complete, and 4/6 torsion rods are cut out on the other.

I had problems with the wheels and the rubber-parts on my jagdpanther, today I realized, that there are two different rubber-parts…sometimes it’s so easy😂

Chipped the white wash on KV-1 1942 this morning.

Broke the rear MG but it’s fixable during process.

A while ago I built this truck as part of the Convoy group build, with the hood open:

12_old chevy

And yesterday, well, the hood became only somewhat opened - that is, while trying to fix some TV connections, this got in the way:

So today, I closed it! - cut out the hinges and opening linkage:

Looks better now anyway! and yes, glued firmly in place!

Cheers

Not completely finished with the interior yet but I applied a Payne grey pin wash anyway. Next painting details and adding the rest of the interior. Engine is also underway, but not at hand…
