Yup - that list sounds like the making of a fun build that we’d all be happy to watch!
I like the plan John. This will look so cool!
Wow that is ancient. Is it supposed to be based on one of the first Chieftains Brian?
It’s based on one of the pre-production ones I belive - which you’ll have access to in the separate collection at Bovington(!) viz:
The plan is to combine it with the later Tamiya version, ie running gear and turret, in the hope that I can get it looking something like this:
'Should look the biz in Bronze Green I reckon; perhaps with a senior Brit officer - DRAC say - looking on with a staff car nearby, for which I have one of these:
to convert hopefully to one of these:
That’s the plan anyhow; when? I have no chuffing idea!
School is starting up for me so I have been in meetings with my department people and training on the new apps we are going to be using with our students. Typical boring business meetings that could be handled more efficiently by simply sending us the info and having us work with our direct admins at our own pace.
My interior work space (I also have a room in my garage) doubles as my virtual classroom space.
I personally use Tamiya Cockpit Green (XF-71), is a dead-ringer to the molded color used by Meng on their BUSK Bradleys.
Like the Phoenix, once again rising from the ashes the model work space is coming back alive.
Lots more work before I can start to use it again and @SSGToms that’s cleanest it will be for a long time.
At least we have photo evidence!

Painted the turret on my “Hand-Me-Down” Meng T-90A build. Mainly the flat black base coat, just did it right before I went to work. I’ll post a picture when i get home later today. Trying my best to catch up on all the unpainted builds i have sitting on my side table.
My goodness, I’d forgotten about that Zephyr Zodiac kit! Im sure I made one of those yonks ago. The two will go well together. It’s good to have ideas and plans like that for builds … I have loads of them !!
My father once owned a Zephyr 6, Mk III. That brings back memories.
That’s the trouble Terry - all the ideas but precioul little building in my case(!)
The trick will be to modify the radiator grill and headlights configuration but it shouldn’t be that hard (famous last words); those ancient Airfix kits could be a bit sparse on detail but as a sort of secondary vehicle (and once it’s in shiny Bronze Green) should look the part. The interiors (of the Army ones) were in a sort of crimson/brown colour.
I do remember seeing these around in the 60s, and late 60s/early 70s. Wasn’t the front seat a bench seat? The gear stick being on the column?
I think they were replaced as a staff car by the Austin 1800 series.
@Tank_1812 Ah, the Zen flows. Look at that glorious work surface. An ordered desk is the sign of an ordered mind. But in the end, we all end up working in that little 12 inch square in front of us.
Debatable if it was before Uncle Sam got a hold of it, definitely not after.
Yes, Dad’s had a bench seat but was a column automatic selector.
Definitley a front bench seat as I recall a friends dad had one (we could only afford a Prefect!), and the gear change was most probably on the steeting column, but my memory is vague on that bit!
Decided to skip the work shop today to visit IPMS/Roscoe Turner in Indianapolis. Ended up being ~190 mile round trip so not time for much else today.
Lots of cool models at the meeting and friendly folks at rhe club meeting.
The meeting is at the VFW and the drive way is well marked and appropriate guarded…wink.
Some of the many excellent models on display.
