What the postman brought today (Armorama)

One of my favorite classics. I remember buying the 1st edition. I would bring it everywhere I went.

It didn’t arrive in the mail but I found this set of Bandai figures at a thrift store today. It is missing one of the rafts but I only paid $1.50 for it. Not a scale I normally work with but I couldn’t just leave it sitting in the shelf.

These arrived this week. I am amazed with the quality of the RFM kits, especially the slat armour!

How’s the 2A6M look? I added the challenger 2 a couple weeks back and it looks spectacular in the box!

Its very crips. Great detail, the slat armour is well modelled. I am not going to buy the RFM PE kit to replace it. The box is 25% taller than the challenger 2 kit! Its packed. Love the umbrella too lol

I think RFM, Ammusing Hobby and Miniart are the top companies right now when it comes to quality, closely followed by the rest of them.

I’d agree with what I have recieved lately. I’d say meng and takom are close though
Topic dependent of course.

NNOooOOOOOoooOOOOOooo! Le sigh. Is it accuracy, fit, or both?

It looks reasonably accurate for an early LAV III. It doesn’t have any of the bells and whistles that were added later on for Afghanistan. There may be some glaring issues that I’m just not seeing, but it’ll look good on a shelf.

Fit… fit is another story. Lots of cleanup required, fit between the hull sections was unimpressive at best, especially the rear plate.

Turret has some giant holes where Trumpeter just didn’t include whatever was supposed to be there, so you’ll need some sheet styrene. Trumpeter’s decals are also utter crap and are prone to silvering. Best advice is to trim away as much of the carrier film as you dare.

On the plus side, there’s a good selection of PE which really helps add some detail and there’s plenty of surface details to help make things interesting with some simple weathering.

Once it’s all together it does look the part though. You can see some of the headaches in the 8 wheel campaign.

Very tempting, Andy’s hobby hq has a BOGO 20% off on RFM kits right now and the 2A6M would round out my Canadian leopard collection

Had a great day at the Yeovil model show today, and caught up with some friendly faces. Great to chat again Brian @BootsDMS and to once more be inspired by your’s and Pete’s AFV models!

So inspired, I almost escaped without spending a penny, but couldn’t resist picking this one up:

I did manage to sell two models from the “will never make these” stash, so not too bad!

Thank you for the assessment, Canmedic! While I can deal with some fit issues, mine will go to the bottom of the pile for now since I know almost nothing about the vehicle, have no idea how to make it accurate, need new tires for it, and may need other things for it. In truth, that’s pretty much the opposite of what I want out of a model. While many of you buy all sorts of extra stuff to make your models accurate, I look for inexpensive models that are accurate out of the box (without much luck).

Thanks Terry; sadly, as you may have noticed I had very little that was new on display. I’ve added Pete’s “Show report” link from his Blog within the “Shows” section for those interested. Anyway, a good day all round!

Some of my AMPS show haul.

Really liked @Kraftstoff3 build Under New management BRDM. I think the gas pump will be paired nicely with it. A bunch of little RB barrel items as they are nice and at the right price plus it’s not easy to find in the states anymore.

The other things not unpacked yet are the new homed Dspiae Tools, the center locator, electric sharpening pen and table vise.

For Aussie fans, I did see the owner of https://www.boomersbooks.net/ that bought the Mouse House molds. He is looking to restart that line back up soon.

John Rauscher (Boomers Books/Empire Models) has bought the Mouse House line (not the books), except for the Leopard items. Those have went to Michael Shackleton (aka Trackpad/Leopard Club).

John’s new line will be called Bushmaster Models.

Thanks for the name, I talked to him a few times but couldn’t recall his name.

Unfortunately Ryan, the postage from the US is so expensive it will likely be uneconomical for most Aussies to purchase less than a large order. I was talking to a few of my club guys and we may look at a single bulk order if the line is restarted, and if there is a good selection available.

I did think about when I saw the flyer and listed Aussie fans and not Aussies cause that is a barrier to over come. The good news is the products may come back and not lost to time. Maybe a local dealer will become a distributor and it wouldn’t be as bad.

So I guess that I’ve been lagging on adding my latest acquisitions for a bit on here.
First up, I picked this up from Elefant6 here, who was selling it for a good price. I’ve been wanting a Sherman III DV for a LONG time!

Then for crew, I picked up this Masterbox set. The two in desert uniforms will work just fine

The other figures are the crew sprue from the Tamiya boxing of Italeri’s Crusader III kit. I’ll probably use one on my Crusader III AA
