I also got the IDF 113 last week. Nice haul.

That’s the Stryker I want next…or the ATGW one

Yesterday I got the Takom M46 and Jeep combo kit with Star M46 decals, Border T-34 with RB 57mm barrel and Quinta Mi-2 decals cause I thought I had that kit I do not, it’s another Aeroplast helo, doh!

No photo but I received the AK interactive Iran-Iraq war profile book. There is stuff other than profiles in it, but not much.

Anyone have a handy guide to Iraqi unit markings? Perhaps they didn’t change much between the war with Iran and the invasion of Kuwait?

Couldn’t resist a $42.49 Meng M1A2. I have to stop reading Modern Armor threads or more IDF kits are going to jump into the shopping cart:)

Anxious to here/see more of about the Magach. Kit is on my list but I can’t bring myself to spent well over $50 on a kit. Ahhh just have to be patient.

@Armorsmith DV, first in the box impression is its very well molded sweet and crisp. Meng says on box excellent fit which is bold claim. I imagine they back that up since it’s printed on the box. Around 2/3 of the parts of total parts count are to build the tracks. The only minor yuck is the main gun barrel with two halves to glue together. It has a thermal sleeve so its not a slide molded one piece deal. I’m about sick of WW2 & panzers so may toss this on the bench after the current Pz IIIN.

I’ve built several Meng kits and am generally happy with them but the track assembly tends to be rather fragile. How does the Magach compare to the Academy offering? How much better is it for the money?

I imagine Academy improved over the years since they are still in business. My experience with Academy products: I rather get Covid than build another Academy kit

The sting of poor quality remained long after the sweet taste of low price faded.

Engineering wise, I greatly dislike Academy’s vinyl tire approach to tank road wheels. Painting road wheels is super easy with a decent circle template.

My experience with Academy kits was from long ago. It was universally terrible due to nasty sink marks and poor fit. A few years ago a friend built the Academy Warrior but the kit tracks were so short they both broke due to excessive tension. He jury rigged them back together with sowing thread.

After six bad experiences with Academy I try to avoid buying their products.

They have improved. Some of their newer kits are pretty good. In particular their Merkava IV LIC is a really good kit in my pinion. One of their Abrams is supposed to be nice to although I have not seen that one. It’s the one that comes with DEE indy tracks. Anyway anxious to follow your Magach build.

In my case, the tracks ripped off the front torsion bar sections over time. The old Academy Warrior had fit issues, accuracy issues, scale issues and decal issues… the only thing on the plus side was the glue would hold the styrene together… unlike the old Hobby Boss indy track sets…

I only have 2 other Academy kits, both M113 based and both the old Tamiya moulds… I steer clear now.

I have the Meng Magach 6b Gal Batash version in the stash begging to be built… looks like a great kit.

What the postman brought, yesterday

A book on PE to help on my adventures in a custom PE set for my ST-26 bridgelayer… and then something completely different. MiniArt’s Triebflugel. First time stepping outside armor, but it’s still 1/35 so I guess I’m not a total lost cause.

Mail from the Czech Republic today. Apparently translation is difficult
Anyway more boxes to load the box wagon…

Still a better translation than some, Erwin. I once had a kit made in Asia where the instructions told you to “stick assemble in your behind”. I hope they meant ‘place part on the back’ as I chose to do the latter…
