@Maximus8425 , Happy Birthday!
Cool present! A+++
Probably the best way to own one
You’re probably right, but it’s nice to dream. I unpacked it to have a look, yeah those sprues aren’t going back into the box properly.
It’s a conspiracy, lots of kits are like that, one short peek inside and the lid can’t be closed anymore …
It’s been built quite well, other than the bits that broke off in the mail, of course I’ve ordered a set of AFV Club tracks for it this afternoon, which will be the main assembly work I’ll have to do. Well, that and putting on a different lower part to the turret after I pry off AFV Club’s mistaken attempt at a late-type cast turret.
I was in Munich on a layover and decided to visit Traudls Modellbau to pick up some supplies and before you know it I got some figures for my tanks. And since I there I picked up a wingy thingie as well
How badly wrong is it?
The TL;DR version is that AFV Club appears to have mistaken the reinforced turret ring to mean it sits higher, rather than there being a collar around the turret ring that makes it wider.
The long form is here
Brand new on my doorstep, in from Spain is AK Interactive’s Real Color Paint Marker set.
This 34 marker set retails for 70 Euros, but I found, strangely, that if you go to the AK site, click on the Products header, click on the Real Colors Paint Markers, then on the pop up screen on the left click on the “Full Range” button, the price for the full set is reduced to 57.85 Euros! I don’t know why this happens, but it worked for me! Save almost 15 Euros!
These markers are a good value. Thay are large and hold a lot of paint. The tips are wide at the base for broad applications, but come to a very fine point for pinpoint touches. I can see these being very useful for doing camouflage smocks or drawing digital camouflage on vehicles.
Two things I’m wary of though. I’ve heard from others who have tried them that the colors included are NOT matched to the bottled Real Colors line, so the colors may be different to what you get in the bottles. The other sticking point is that these are acrylic markers, and Real Colors are lacquer paints, so you can’t blend them. This might also be used to advantage as the markers won’t react with the lacquer Real Colors paints. In any case, AK includes a very nice range of colors, including Olive Drab, Dunkelgrau, and Dunkelgelb, along with Chipping color (boy is that going to be handy!) and Wood, so you can color in all those tool handles, so for AFV’s this should be a most useful set. I’ll give them a workout and report back with a photo review later.
It’s a AK and working are the two things I am wary of. Hesitant after the pencil issue even if they seem like they do work. Look forward to your testing.
Attended a show today and came away with a couple of 1/72 vehicles.
And something very different. Sam’s study a wood, paper and metal fittings kit.
Funny enough I too went to a show today (Billericay) and came away with a Tamiya Jeep! Also got some of the big Tamiya mixing jars, as all my most-used colours tend to be blends to get the right shade and mixing small amounts is tiresome…
Being a customer from outside the EU, you don’t pay VAT, is probably what happened there. And yes, indeed: a quick search tells me that Spain’s high VAT rate is 21%, and €70 ÷ 1.21 = €57.85. (In the EU, non-trade prices must be advertised including applicable taxes, but customers outside the EU don’t have to pay VAT so prices in web stores generally take that off if you indicate you’re from elsewhere.)
BTW, it’s “euros” with a lowercase e, unless you also write Dollars, Pounds, Yen, etc.
Is that by Rolife? It looks like it, anyway.
Got these two kits today for free from a buddy. Both have been opened, but everything inside is still sealed. Pretty cool pictures on the the Type 10. Definitely out of my comfort zone but think they’ll be fun to do
Free is always good
Robotime but I think they are the same company
That’s the one I meant, yep. I had to look up the instructions for the greenhouse I built earlier this year, and it said “Rolife” on it, but I guess that’s the series or something.
If that Vespid T-90 is anything like their Centurion or Comet, it will be a very fine kit indeed!
It does look very nice in the box, comes with 3D printed parts for a canvas covered mantlet, IR jammers, front lights and hoses for the rear fuel tanks. I’ve built one of their Comets and have a Panther, Leo 2A7, Centurion and another Comet waiting in the build pile.
Pamphlet inside indicates a T-34/85 is next.
