They don’t look horrible but they were packed really crappy and are twisted in two spots. Probably some work with hot water might fix them but I’m planning to put Batash tracks on the Meng 3D and use the tracks from it on this kit
Looked mine out again, two spots of short moulding, matching on each track, and a whole lot of flash. Will be going aftermarket for these, pretty disappointing really…
I’ve got two of those Crocs as plan to do a Korean one too. I have got a set of decals for it, I think Star Decals?
I really should stop putting it off.
Yes it is Star decals, I’ve got to find a set, also want that set for the universal carrier.
Yes! I seem to recall that sheet covers a few Commonwealth vehicles.
It’s an area of history that my knowledge is unfortunately lacking in, I’ve recently read the brilliant book by Max Hastings as a start and I’m trying to find other books that cover the Commonwealth Division. I do know that the Italians deployed a field hospital as that close after WWII they were not yet allowed to deploy armed troops abroad, and today found out about the Ethiopian Battalion. Still a lot to learn and a bewildering array of vehicles that can be modelled. I can see a Canadian M4A3E8 heading my way.
Me too! I started to look into a few things over the last year or so but got sidetracked with other things. Even started a few aircraft projects.
I have to confess that most of what I know comes from watching MASH. Funny, but hardly a reliable historical source! They did at least feature the many UN forces involved. Sometimes the contribution of those forces, including British, has been forgotten.
A lot of very interesting kit was in use, stuff left over from WW2 and the latest and greatest.
Another campaign model showed up.
I know you guys all bought the Gecko kits but for my goals, this will work better.
Mine are way better than those. There are no major flaws in the casting if that’s the right term for soft tracks and mine are also a light gray color.
I have to say the more I look the more I think that this is a different set perhaps than yours. I wonder if they redid them during the time yours was produced and mine? Mine seem to have a lot crisper details. What is the consistency of the material on yours? These aren’t as soft as say DS tracks or even Asuka but they are softer than most other “rubber” tracks I’ve had before.
Moulding.
Yeah, they are way better than mine. The plastic used for mine is the softest I’ve ever felt for tracks. Bought my kit a few years back, so not surprised they redid the tracks, as they must have been inundated with complaints. Will look into contacting Meng if possible.
Thanks for taking the time to photo your tracks, very helpful mate.
Waiting for Quick tracks Tiran 5/T-55 tracks and more stuffs, received Aber M68 Gun and photoetched tiran 5 Eduard parts
I have good sucess with the Quick Tracks
I saw a tool that looked rather handy: a device that helps drilling centered holes in both the side and face end of round stock…
That looks like something I might have some use for. What’s it called?
I found this.
It does look like a handy tool.
Thanks for looking it up. I didn’t test it yet, as I only came back from a 2 weeks holiday and it was delivered during this time.
BTW, it can also be found on Ali, for nice prices. Just look up the brand.
