BNA dragged me in again, this one arrived today. It looks absolutely amazing in the box, I will get some sprue shots and post up soon.
I have plans for a 2-way kitbash between this and a Chevy Blitz so the G506 will end up being a bush delivery truck loaded with fuel and oil drums, and the Blitz will be a rough salvage truck using the crane from the G506.
Something like this . . . .
Cheers, D
Picked this one up from my PO Box today, should be a bunch of fun!

Hi D,
You have sure got one interesting stash - wow - so many Chevies to build!
Looking forward to seeing each of them!
Cheers

Hi model builders, I received this in the mail a couple of weeks ago. I want to start on it when I’m done with my current project:
DNEpro Models is in Ukraine. I received it after a bit of a wait, but all things considered it was no problem at all, and I hope they are OK. I’ve since ordered another kit, which is still in transit.
I have a plan in mind for this and the other, changing them up some.
Cheers
Nick
Nick, that looks awesome!

I found a review on the G506 Tow Truck on the Automodeler home page here -

Darren beat me to it and did a great review!
@Stickframe I agree with @jimb, that looks awesome! It would look great beside the G506 with the 4WD pedigree and rugged looks. I can’t wait to see what you have planned for it!
Cheers, D
SJ does have the Mustang, if you want the new spec stock cars.
I won this on eBay while back as I was curious about this kit and now that I have it in my hands I can say it’s worth adding to our collection for future build as it’s a unique subject.
Great pick-up Mike. I’ve always liked the look of these old trucks and if any come up at the right price I wouldn’t hesitate to grab them. It would be cool to have all 4 of the versions in a display together.
Looking forward to some WIP reports when it hits your bench.
Cheers, D
@AussieReg Damian, yeah the price on these truck models is bit high in my opinion. I would love to pick all 4 but not at the asking price. I placed a bid on a fairly low starting price and got lucky as no one else placed any offers.
Looks like theres plenty of detail, the moulding looks nice and crisp.
Oh yeah, it’s has nice detail and crisp/clean. I was impressed. Not like this old AMT or Revell molds. Even the wood looks nice. With bit of a careful painting and weathering it will look wonderful.
FYI ~ MiniArt does offer that crane separately.
Thanks Mike, I thought that might be the case as it is supplied all on its own sprue.
I’m actually planning a 2-way kitbash with a tray transplant from one of these kits (depending on which one fits best) on to the tow truck frame.
Or maybe just scratch up some sides and rear gate for the flat tray on the tow truck. I will be loading the tray up with a heap of crates and drums as a “bush supply vehicle” for miners.
Cheers, D
Why not take one of those kits, add the Miniart 3t crane 3 Ton Service Crane, MiniArt 35576 (2019) and G506 aftermarket wheels?
Jim,
The 917 K is one of my all time favorite kits. While it’s packaged by Revell of Germany, it’s the Fujimi kit. Not sure why they’re calling it New? Here’s my Fuuimi kit with Indy Cal decals. Enjoy the build.

Someone recently did such a conversion using the Quad Gun Truck, cutting out just the rear sloping roof and the tail board. (transom)
Made for a rather nice looking post-war tow truck.
Joel,
I really like the 917K. It’s one of my all-time favorite race cars, but this Revell/Fujimi kit is more trouble than it’s worth. For the life of me I cannot get the body on the chassis. It’s beyond frustrating. No matter what I do, it will NOT stay together. It’s about to get binned. It’s too bad that Tamiya doesn’t make a 917K as I’ve basically given up on this kit.
