There is a nice walking area by the parking lot.

There are more displays about the Indian Wars, the Civil War and local animals. Also quite about the local Guard unit that was sent to the Philippines in 1941.

When you are finished go to the White Sand national park which is quite close.

Have one of these at Missile Park. NAS Pt. Mugu, Ca. They played with them there too. Area where they were launched was referred to as Loon Lagoon.

It looks like your dog did not enjoy the tour. 🩷😁. My sheltie got too close to the edge of a dune and started sliding down and started to get buried. I was out there when dusk fell, it was amazing how I began to lose my orientation.

Did you get over to the New Mexico Museum of Space History? It’s also a fascinating place. You can leave a banana or another tribute at the grave of Ham the Astrochimp.

On the old site there is a feature of that museum.

If you’re doing the whole tour, there’s also the The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History in Albuquerque. But you’ve already passed it if you were in Amarillo.

You noticed!
We went there as well but did not go inside as my wife was hanagry, so we just paid out respects to Ham.
