Hint, he designed a very famous WW2 fighter, designed a equally famous Korean war fighter and another well known Cold War fighter.

Edgar O. “Ed” Schmued (Schmüd) (1899–1985). He was an Austrian/German-American aircraft designer, famed for his design of the iconic North American P-51 Mustang and, later, the F-86 Sabre while at North American Aviation. He later worked on other aircraft designs as an aviation consultant. (from Wikipedia).

He also designed the Northtrop F-5 Freedom Fighter and the T-38 trainer BTW…

Outstanding! Well done Frenchy.

Your turn to post a picture if you’d like too.

So who is this young baseball player ?

Cap

My SWAG is Babe Ruth

I think it is Ike, Gen/Pres Eisenhower.

He played on a minor league team under another name a year before attending West Point. The issue is he played college football at West Point. To be eligible to play in college, you cannot have been paid to play in any sport prior or you are considered a pro and ineligible.

Back to my pic above that no one has gotten yet.

Another US officer. And to make it a little harder, what team was he head football coach of?

I guess I’ve found the answer but I’ll let other members take a chance

SWAG - Paul Brown, head coach at the Great Lakes Naval Training Ctr.

Nope.

Interesting to think the SR 71 Kelly Johnson worked with/knew Amelia Earheart

Was he a Hatfield or a McCoy?

I looked it up. That’s amazing!

William Allen Lundy (January 18, 1848? – September 1, 1957) claimed to be one of the last living Confederate veterans of the American Civil War, having claimed to have served with the 4th Alabama Infantry from 1864 to 1865. His age is disputed and some records suggest he was born in 1859, not 1848. (Wikipedia)
