Who's in the photograph?

To go from single shot muskets to jet fighters in one generation. To have lived through the The Wild West, Spanish American war, WW1, WW2, and the Korean war. To go from mules and wagons to 55 Chevy’s. The Wright brothers and the depression

Sep 4, 1953 : Maj. Gen. William F. Dean, former commander of the U.S. 24th Infantry, is released after three years as a prisoner of war. Dean is the highest-ranking prisoner of the Korean War. After brief celebrations in Seoul, he will be flown to Tokyo to receive treatment for amoebic dysentery.

Definitely a very heroic man.

Upon retirement Dean was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge for his front line service in World War II and Korea; general officers are not usually eligible, since they are not usually participants in front line combat, and Dean was only the second general to receive the award. Other generals who received the Combat Infantryman Badge were Douglas MacArthur, Omar Bradley and Joseph Stilwell.”
