Wild Weasel 2023

Thanks, Stephen. I need to go for the spares box or steal from another kit.

I will use the IBG kit.

Good choice. Interesting to watch how this one builds.

I made the ICM version last year. A decent kit but really showing it’s age…

This one looks better :slightly_smiling_face:

Finally got some bench time with the Thud.

The seats are basic but not much will be visible through the closed canopies anyway.

All primed

Looking over it in a bit more detail…

There is a bit of flash here and there, but generally, looks ok…

I sort of wish I had bit the bullet and got the 1/48 HobbyBoss version… Still, never mind …

Just to prove I did something tonight lol…

Put the seats in the tub and painted all that and the inside of the fuselage side walls in Tamiya xf83 medium sea grey 2 (RAF)…

Also skimmed off the slightly raised detail on the instrument panel ready for its decal

The way Tamiya name their colours on some of them baffles me… They call this a medium sea grey, whereas it is probably close to the lightest grey I have and I have nearly all the Tamiya greys …

Got the fuselage closed up on the Thud. Fairly happy with it so far.

Two Tamiya Extra Thin glue fingerprints though….so yay for that.

Whilst waiting for some aftermarket goodies (a correct nose cone and some resin bits and pieces) I have decided on the paint scheme:

I am still contemplating on the armament under the wings (suggestions are welcome). Under the fuselage I will add 3 AIM-7E, an ALQ-119 pod and the F-15 style 610 gallon fuel tank.

For the wings I might go for 2 370 gallon fuel tanks and 2 AGM-78 Standard ARMs

Am I correct in thinking that the Mk7H ejection seat is used on the F-4G, as in the late F-4E?

Just looked at a couple of dedicated ejection seat sites and it looks like they did use the mk7 Nikos.

Some work on the Raven

Upper fuselage and wings in.

Have done the set up so wings are moveable… Tailplane is just dry fitted at the mo

And the canopy is masked up and fitted…have left out the exhaust assemblies and will paint those up and then fit after the main body colour has been applied.

Did have some serious gaps in both of the air intake areas that required sanding first to get a good general fit, then plastic putty to make everything right .

Both sides were pretty much the same but look now.

Build is now finished. Just have to add the wheels and the exhausts which I mentioned above.

The external colour scheme will be made up of 4 AK Grey’s, light ghost grey, medium gunship grey, medium grey and aggressor grey …

Masked up the areas that needed it in preparation for the lower fuselage which I will do tomorrow… That will be in AK light ghost grey…
