"Winter Harvest" - Ukraine War dio

Nice work Gino!

Excellent work Gino!

Thanks gents. More work on it this weekend. I just found these on eBay to go with it too.

Water bottles and water bottle decals from Ukraine by DAN Models.

I have finished up the initial paint on the BMP-2. I sprayed it with a rattle can of Krylon Spanish Green. I added the "Z"s with craft paint and deliberately left them messy so they look hand painted.

I also changed out the tracks. The Trumpeter kit comes with rubber band tracks that were way too short. I had a set of link-and-length tracks from an old Esci BMP that I used on it. I also had to use the Esci sprockets as they had a different pitch and are wider than the Trumpeter tracks.

Here it is so far.

I added a couple ration cartons on the inside from the FC Model Trend Russian IRP-P Rations box set. You can see one on the right side rear seat below.

I started adding some more details as well by placing a water bottle box of a Russian water label on the rear deck. I made the box myself using images lifted off the web.

Next up is weathering and I am waiting on a couple more items to come in the mail for the dio.

Looking good there Gino. Some nice extra detailing. Liking the Z’s :+1:

Thanks John. Its coming along.

Looks great Gino. Love the interior especially!

Thanks Richard.

Nice job on everything, as usual, but I really like what you did with the box.
Ken

Thanks Ken. I have a couple more boxes w/different Russian labels that will eventually be in the dio too, so stand by.

I’m loving this build, i must get back to my BMP-3

Thanks David. I am enjoying it and hope to get some more done this weekend.

Looks about ready for some weathering now…

Pretty much. Need to decide on figure(s) and am still waiting on a couple diorama accessories to come in.

I am having a problem trying to find a figure that will work with this. I had envisioned a farmer hooking up the tow cables from the BMP to the tractor, but can’t find any figure that seems to work.

I have found this modern Eastern European farmer, but he is just standing there doing nothing.

It seems most farmer figures are either doing nothing or waving, or are obviously in WWII-era clothing, not modern. Does anyone have any other ideas before I start hacking up figures to make what I am thinking about?

That’s mostly what they do, they occaisionally poke a massive bonfire made out of used tyres though.

He’s not doing ‘nothing’, on the contrary,
he’s staring down a trespasser,
sending psychic messages that boil
down to ‘Get off my property or enjoy
a close encounter with my shotgun’

Perhaps tank crew mechanics in overalls might work?

Something like this Verlinden set.

Or this more modern offering from Royal Model.

Thanks, I have looked at mechanics as well. I am trying to find a guy in winter dress and all the generic ones are lightly dressed. I may just be too picky, but I am still looking.

Maybe it is easier to “beef up” the dress of a figure in a suitable pose than trying to
change the pose of a suitably dressed figure?
