@justsendit to bad you didn’t finish them yet, but please, when you do, show us the result, really like that group and the setting!
@MoramarthT not my field of interest, but very nice looking figures!

Love to see it growing, can’t wait to see the next steps.
Finally finished him. Not very happy with it though. Was motivated, then some painting didn’t work out, then put it on the shelf, and finally just pushed through to get it done.
Hey John, you shouldnt be so hard on it… I think it looks very good, nice colours good ground work and the face and hair look pretty good to me. Nice build.
Very nice builds @MoramarthT and @Striker. They are both different from the norm and look great.
Bloody hell, it’s happened again! I step away for a minute and all hell breaks loose! Well, I’m done with the wife’s list of jobs for this year so, I can get back to the bench now . Looks like just about everyone’s builds are getting finished now and, some cracking work there is too. Loving the Sci-fi and 40k figures. Takes me back a fair few years. Last time I did anything like that must have been mid-90’s or so. Used to do them for my sons when they were little. Giving me the itch to look at MAIM and Scale 75 stuff…… Likewise John’s Knight. I think I need to do something different.
Oh well, back to the bench! If I pull my finger out, I might just get this panzerfaust dude finished soon. Inspirational work everyone!

@ Bert (Bwilt) and Jan (Jan_Degryse). Thank’s for the nice comments. That’s the sort of thing that really keeps me motivated. I’m not sure if this campaign thread will completely shut-down on the end date (thought I heard talk of an extension). However, if it’s okay with the campaign boss and others, I will continue to update this build here. Whatever is decided, somewhere down the road, I’ll be posting a separate build log upon my AT Gun Crew’s completion. … Stay tuned.
@ Tom (Moramarth). The metallic colors really shine on your figure. Very nice work!
@ John (Striker). What’s not to like? The blue and yellow contrast so nicely and the groundwork looks really good. My one recommendation… Put a piece of plain ol’ curved copy paper (or color) behind your work and watch what happens to the photo.
Happy figuring!

Is there a way to tone down highlights? I only want to redo the jacket on one of my figures, while the other figure that needs fixing for the pants just needs toned down highlights, since they are in good places, but a little too bright.
A light wash of the basic colour of the jacket, must do.
Start with a extremely les part of paint: 1part of the colour 9 part water, you can always increase the part of the colour.
Ok, thank you. I figured it would be some kind of wash/filter type thing.
I was somehow able to recreate the color of the jacket that I’m repainting from scratch, idk how.
Just the result counts, you can always write it down in a little book like some people do
I have a spreadsheet where I have multiple things, one of which is approximate paint mixtures for various colors, but for Feldgrau, I just have a general palette of colors to use. On a side note, I have repainted the pants and done better highlights on the pants and jacket. I will make the other jacket darker though.
Personal, skin tones. I’m always working from the inside to the outside
Starting mostly with the face.
That’s what I’m doing now. Do you know what kinds of regulations the Wehrmacht had for facial hair? I want to make my figures a bit more interesting.
I am still amazed at how my cheap-o 2 round brush is my main detail/general smaller painting brush.
In the Wehrmacht of the Third Reich, facial hair behind a small, neatly trimmed moustache was against regulations, although in field conditions these regulations were often relaxed. The latter was particularly true of the Kriegsmarine and Bergjäger. The growth of a full beard was the norm for active-duty submarine crews, although facial hair was expected to be shaved soon after reaching port.
Cheap don’t mean it’s bad. I use several cheap synthetic brushes for base coat and details, just for the finish I use quality brushes.
I’ll give my driver a 5 o’clock shadow, which will contrast well with a more tanned face.
You can definitely get good results with cheap brushes they just might not last as long.
When I paint a complete figure/model with an expensive brush it will not last long even, but I’m not sensitive with my brushes I admit.
