The turret is certainly filled to the rear with the semi auto load system, and the rear hull now has the cooling system.
Yeah, it’s crazy to think that only now are wheeled arty seen as the preferred design. 40yrs ahead of its time and still no “real” demand for it. Politics influence demand.
The bush wars, pushed for wheels as the best option, tracks are high maintenance,
light forces from France, use wheels for the force protection and projection abroad, and heavy for Europe, with time helping if heavy is need somewhere else.
UK gave that up , after giving everyone independence,
the CVR(T) fleet, was the last design for use abroad, by MOD requirements,
We are relearning all over again,
Politicians really screw everything up.
Need to re do my G6 Rhino the tires are melting the rims
How are the tyres melting the rims?
not why or how but the rims are melted and fused with the tires
Didn’t have any issue with the tires and rims on this kit. However lately I have always painted the rims where they are in contact with the vinyl tires to avoid this kind of trouble.
Olivier
Oh, I get it!
The rims melted onto the tyres when glued. Had a bit of brain fade there…
I’d consider using a masking medium and masking tape to “protect” the tyres when you respray.
Good luck.
I am finally back on this build. It took a while to help the Eland across the finish line.
I managed to paint my driver. I do so like the Vallejo acrylics!! There is no need for the pin wash or highlight on the figure. The paint just flows and delivers.
Painted the interior of the drivers cab and did the green tint on the bullet resistant windows. Did struggle at first, looked like something out of an Irish convention…emerald green. 2nd time around I think I toned it down enough.
The cab looks OK, and I’m hoping by adding the driver will make it more purposeful.
Need to add the driver and close up the hull.
Till the next update.
I like it,
I like that finish very much. Mine has been waiting in the wings for a few years now to be painted, along with several other Centurion variants. It makes me want to rethink the scheme on mine, which was going to be the three tone scheme as shown in the instructions.
Unfortunately you still have a bit of work to do - even though the rubber tires are separate pieces, the inner diameter of the rim still needs to be painted in the tan color.
Yeah, can’t quite relate to the 3 tone colour scheme as you can tell with the Rooikat. The bonus is that I get to do the prototype G6.
Kinda looks like a 4 legged AT-AT walker…
As you can tell the driver has been fitted.
Next are to headlights and armoured surrounds.
Wish me luck!
Having done some more research (staring at a bunch of old photo’s) , I realised a bit more work was required on the main hull.
Removed and filled vent/holes, ordered some decent sized shackles.
The revised gun mount is nearing completion. Did a dry fit.
Still gotta assemble the commanders copula and build new headlights.
Till next time.
Did a little more work on the gun mount. Raided my motorbike detailing bits for bolts.
I think I like these bolts as they are easier to apply than the Meng ones that you cut off the carrier.
Started on the commander’s copula, will need to cut masks for the vision slots. Not sure I like this style copula as it requires some delicate masking. This appears to common and will be repeated when I do the Olifant Mk1A. Joy!
Well, that’s all for now, incremental.
Till the next update.
Well, Telford was a great outing again. Some controversy with regards to categories and awarding. But hey, it adds flavour to the event and highlights the need for a proper commercial road vehicle category.
Finally decided to bite the bullet. Started off with card prototype for the new headlight shroud and wasn’t too far off the mark.
Now working on prototype 2 in plasticard.
That’s all for now, until I have finished finessing this attempt.

Great looking build.
Cheers,
Ralph
Four prototypes later…
I think I have cracked this, the 0.25mm plasticard did the trick with enough flexibility for bending without fracturing.
Now for the 2nd set.
Till the next update🫡
That’s looks great. Have you considered using brass shim stock? I’ve shown in several post how easy it is to work with.
That is a neat solution, thanks for sharing.
