Do you say these things to make me do it lol !!!
Well we are talking about doing a Star Wars campaign this summer so your getting one step closer to the dark side.
I was born to be Sith LOL
John,
Nice touch on the recycling front, , and yes, totally agree with you about clunky as opposed to small and neat, more ‘Steampunk’ than ‘high-tech’,
.
As for figures, check out the ‘Orion - German WWII Panzer Soldiers’, they do two sets (links to review below), soft plastic, but they look good, though I think that they would limit you to warmer months of the year,

John,
Born Sith…as in Armstrong from Emmerdale…can just picture you riding in your chariot across the plains of Salisbury, handlebar moustache blowing in the breeze, .
Cheers, ,

Very nice effect G … looks the part … Is Capt Ahab going in the Dio ? he has played a major part in the build so far
P.S - Seth Armstrong was my favourite character lol – not that I have watched it in about …20 years
John,
Cpt. Ahab will definitely not be appearing, , he’s used as my only 1/72nd scale figures were Revell U-boat crew,
.
Never watched Emmerdale, but his was one of those characters that went beyond the show itself, .

Hi all,
A fiddly day making the windows and gates for the entrance, lot of time for little gains,
.
I still need to add hinges and suchlike to the gates, and they need a proper paint job, as do the windows.
Cheers, ,
G
Little gains add to the big picture - the house is getting very very good G- I genuinely keep forgetting its only 1/72
Thanks for the continued support and kind feedback John, much appreciated, .
G
I agree with John, looks great and still surprised it’s 1/72.
Hi Ryan,
Thank you too for your supportive comments and generous feedback, really appreciated, .
G
Hi all,
Another fiddly day, again, lots of time for little gain, cobbled together a back door, door to outbuilding, including first lick of paint, and started a stone trough,
.
Cheers, ,
G
Lovely detailing G. Have you had any thoughts about whats going to be happening in the house/courtyard area ?
Thanks John,
It’s all a tad Heath Robinson, strips of old Birthday/Christmas cards and white glue, but it’s more of an experiment, .
The gates are probably going to be off their hinges and I had intended to have the trough with water from a pump, but can’t get a position I like, . So now I think I’m going to put a lean to shelter, wood posts and corrugated roof, maybe over part of the yard and run a downpipe from the roof and into the trough (see rough sketch below for concept).
Before I even started the build I had thought about Using the Airfix Austin K2 ambulance and using the house as an aid station, but it’s the wrong scale, 1/76th. I then wondered about a half track ambulance but can only find M3s, and we used M5s and 9s, so not sure about the differences? Could get a Jeep or Carrier and convert to stretcher carrying,
.
Also possible to use it as a forward command post if I could find a suitable vehicles, e.g. 1/72nd Humber or Daimler scout car.
So many options, but first I need to try and find some 1/72nd farmyard equipment to litter around,
.
G
Nice plan of action. I like the Fwd HQ idea, plenty of scope to use one the open rooms for a briefing scene etc…look forward to seeing what you decide on.
The lean to idea is really good and would fit right in to that scene … continued great effort
Hi all,
A wasted day today, , I have been trying to create a scrim netting for the Cromwell but, unfortunately it hasn’t really worked,
, so it’s back to the drawing board,
. If anyone has any ideas for a netting material that will look to scale in 1/72nd, I’m all ears,
.
Luckily I had purchased a box of the relatively cheap Armourfast Cromwells, to use for experimentation purposes, so I can use it as the basis for a damaged vehicle when I get around to a Villers-Bocage sort of scene.
Cheers, ,
G
I wouldn’t get too down on yourself G, its not a million miles away. Maybe if you added some actual net texture stuff you used over some parts of the strips to alter their lengths ? What about an old style tea bag- empty - ( & after you have had a brew of course ) and try and mould that into some added texture ?
Thanks John, , but it’s definitely back to the drawing board on this one,
, but I think I might have a solution,
.
