1/72 A4 Base (2021)

Hi all,

Had to rectify a schoolboy error, I discovered that my stable door wouldn’t have theoretically been openable as the doors would open outwards and the groundwork in front was too high so would have fouled it,.

So I dug up the incorrect area…

Put down some fresh DAS and rescribed the area…

And have now started to repaint it…

Phew! :slightly_smiling_face:.

Cheers,,

Hi all,

Also spent some time starting to weather the building, working on the chimney, and beginning to work on the posts for the lean to. The DAS forming the stone post supports will be filed square and scribed and painted once the clay has fully dried.

Cheers,,

Some great colours and tones being laid down there. And the lean to posts… Genius !!

Thanks John, your feedback is much appreciated, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Hi all,

Had a couple of hours to spare so thought I’d paint up the chimney and start to add some ivy, :slightly_smiling_face:.

I will apply a second layer once dry to bulk it up, and trim off the twine branches that are hanging down the back.

Cheers,,

That’s looking great G. The ivy gives it the olde worldy look. It’s a little masterpiece in the making.:+1:

Thanks John, :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:.

Spent an hour cobbling together a jig to make a few sheets of corrugated iron for the lean to roof, not accurate, but it’s the best I can do for now,.

I had intended to purchase a corr-a-gator in both 1/35th and 1/72nd, but the companies over here I’ve looked at don’t have them in stock, and delivery from the states, at the moment, is crazy, :pensive:.

Hi all,

Finally, some plastic arrived today in the form of my figures for this build, first glance looks very promising, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Shutters make a big difference to overall look of the farmhouse and Lok very nice.
The lean to gives the courtyard a nice feel of authenticity. How did you do the corrugated sheets? They look great to me and once weathered will be perfect :+1:

Those figures look cool and nicely detailed… Painting them is going to be fun …

Outstanding G! I am happy to see some 1/72 activity. You’re even faster than me…

John,

The corrugated sheet was made from a thin aluminium, cut from a ready made meal tray, and pressed between a rough-and-ready little jig I cobbled together from 0.8mm styrene rod and plasticard (see images below).

I sandwich the aluminium between the two parts and squeeze gently in a bench vice. It isn’t probably that accurate…hence wanting to eventually purchase the ‘corr-a-gator’ if they’re ever back in stock over here,…and it only does one sheet at a time, but it gives an impression of corrugated sheeting.

The Valiant Miniatures figures seem okay, but are taller than Cpt. Ahab, so look a tad strange in doorways, etc, but fine in open spaces,.

Also, a second bit of plastic arrived today in the form of one of my vehicles (see image below).

I think the boxart is wrong as it shows a bow machine gun, yet, to the best of my very limited knowledge, I don’t think the Firefly retained this gun as the space behind was taken up with ammunition, :pensive:…though I stand to be corrected. I do have a 1/35th Asuka/Tasca version, so might use that to see if I need to make any simple modifications…anything major, forget it, beyond my skills, :sob: .

Having had a quick look at the destructions it does show a stage fitting said bow gun, but also an alternative stage with a blanking plate for the ball joint. Other nice touches, based on a quick scan, appear to be a choice of either a single piece track and wheels, or individual wheels a partial link and length track. Also appears to be spare track for applique armour and some stowage…will reveal all as I build it.

Cheers,,

Nice little corru jig, very smart and served its purpose… That would now be a keeper for me :+1:
I have seen in here that the bow MG was removed and that area was repurposed for ammo… I’m sure a Sherman guru will confirm or deny it.

I’m just doing some tweaks to the KT turret and the radar dish set up…

Then I will look at some rough groundwork layouts.

That does have a nice tight square weave, and looks in scale as well.
