1942: The Turning of the Tide

I was thinking a crashed one at one point … But then that involves a Dio and wanted this to be just a kit build … I have a large possible plan for the next build which might be a bit time consuming …maybe …

Upper and lower hull sorted… Just the rear lower section to sort out now which after a dry fit isn’t going to be as bigger issue as I thought …

Clamping the very lower section of the nose as it was a bit to far forward with the lower side hull issues not lining up correctly… Should be able to get away with minimal filler for this bit

Oh … And the big build plan I was talking about …(Possibly) Was the Scammell Commander tank transporter and an MBT load … Chieftain or Cr1… Or Cr2…

So, the hull is altogether… May need to do a very very bit of filling on the lower rear but pretty happy how it all went together … Can start getting on with the rest now .

“Pretty happy with how it all went together…” That’s like asking a Titanic survivor, “Other than the ice, how was the cruise?”! That was a HORRIFIC fit John. You certainly are an optimist.

It was a bit worrying on the initial test fit … brute force and ignorance won through in the end … with a lot of masking tape and clamps haha …

Left and right side boards on as a dry fit …

And front wheel bar fixed.

And no one will ever know what it took to get it to look like this… :+1::+1::+1:

Hi mates,
after looking at the horrific pictures of Johnny’s experience I’m very glad for my Messerschmitt…

As well detailed as the DB engine was, I decided against mounting it, because the fitting here wasn’t so great as with the rest yet.
I will have some work maybe with the wing guns…we’ll see.
Good luck, John, and to all the other campaigners here! :muscle: :four_leaf_clover:

Base coat of the highly exciting Dunkelgrau is now on… :see_no_evil:

Looking at such a drab scheme is making my eyes hurt …

I think I’m going to give the scheme Carlos @Stikpusher did on his 251 with the criss cross hatch earth colour … Something a bit different than the normal…

Hi Everyone,

There’s a lot neat and different builds going on here! So, I did a bit more research, and went through the shelves to find something that would be different for me to build, and fit the campaign. I came up with three likely candidates, and it would appear that I’ll be doing a Midway honorary build (still trying to complete my "Coral Sea 80th!). I’m thinking this one will focus on the US side of things.

Therefore, I’ll be doing GWH (first time building one of their kits) TBD-1.

In honor of LCDR John C. Waldron

As always, till next time, stay safe, wash your hands and have lots of fun!

Ok, 3 links in on the first 251 track run…

And it broke my will to live … So tiny and fiddly…:see_no_evil:

Cunning plan…

Rolled a length of play doh out then place the main links guide horn down into that and then fit the rubber pads …

Next issue I didn’t realise was the 2 outer locating pins on the pads are off set to the rear slightly so they only go on one way … And they are very fiddly …

However… The idea worked a treat … did this run of 15 in 5 minutes …

Did his plane several years ago using the monogram kit. don’t forget to add the duel 30 cals in the rear gunner position.
