3D prints and CADs Part 2 - by petition2God

Yes. Good to know the limits of the art.

Another WIP. Just CADded T-72/T-90 headlight guards just for the challenge of it. Took me 30 mins to do so:

Not sure how they’d print in 1/35 due to their thinness however.

I think they should print fine assuming they’re around 0.25-0.5 mm. I would do a quick 1 min cure after they print to get some structural rigidity before freeing them from the supports.

Thanks for your insight, Mike! Yeah, I made it 0.6 mm in diameter just to be in more cautious side.

@amoz02t Stuart,
Printed the revised fuel cans in 1/35. I think you’re going to like these much better than my previous attempts:

Oversizing the letters worked!

Kind regards,
James

Fantastic stuff here!

I see you had 3 supports on the letters on the side that faces downward. From what I see I don’t think you need those supports there nor the support from the “SupplyCare” to the that center oval. It will save all that detail.

Must be a jerry can day today. Put together a “USMC” jerry can used during WWII. Apparently, no kit manufacturer offers them?
Will print them in 1/35 sometime this week:

Yes Trijicon ACOG scope inscription would be tiny lettering and not much space for the full text… Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. JN8:12

Couldn’t resist: the US modern “Combat Vehicle Crewman (CVC) Helmet” (Combat Vehicle Crewman (CVC) Helmet, Vietnam Era - Download Free 3D model by olmopotums [c1516dc] - Sketchfab) by olmopotums is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution (Creative Commons — Attribution 4.0 International — CC BY 4.0). Will need to revise a lot to 3D print and to be more accurate.
The original designer misnamed it b/c it’s NOT VN War era tanker helmet.

James.

I’ll have to tap you for a couple heavy MGs. Mainly the M2 Browning and the DShK. Maybe done other stuff, like the lifting shackles and tow bars i mentioned earlier.

Hi Reynier,
I have printed some DShKs:

Lifting shackles?

Tow bars as seen on Abrams? Something like below?

My CAD WIP:

Let me know what you think.

Sorta like the D9 exhaust, if you can separate the bars then folks can have them open or folded. Next level would to make the two end joints separated also for maximum use. I guess having two prints for a folded and open option is another way to go.

James; those look awesome. Exactly what i need.

Also, for optics; there should be someone that makes the Elcan SpectreDR for the Mk17 Mod 0 rifle.

Hi Ryan,
Sounds like a plan! Done! The beauty of CAD - you can move parts around virtually.

You can have every part separately to your heart’s content:

Hi Reynier,
Yup, I can 3D print this. It needs a little tweaking to look like what you have above but almost a perfect replica from what I can see:

Nice; you even added the M1913 rail adapter. you could also include the Insight MRDS and the mount.
