How bad is this… 19 days into the “campaign” and not a single picture by me… your esteemed and beloved campaignleader!
I remedy that omission at once… The boxart and historical references used;
Some frame shots… I fear my kit had some worn castings, since they are slightly misaligned. Lots of sanding to be done.
And the figures; the commander is reasonably acceptable, but the crew look like garden gnomes!
And I just found out that the for this kit intended Eduard etching set is from 2001… and they had a big fire in their warehouse today!
I know, I mean I am almost done building a kit and I am a slow builder. ![]()

hope everyone is safe.
Quick update from me: Basecoat on. I applied Tamiya’s new RAL 8000 color (XF-92) and used XF-49 Khaki to replicate RAL 7008 (or a close enough approximation). Proceeding quite slowly as I’m also in the midst of finishing a Dragon panzer I
Wade, even with loose tracks often the tension you have is correct on a stopped vehicle as the weight on the front road wheel, and the teeth on the drive hold the track and keep up tension, however it is the rear that you will see most sag in that case. Sag on the drive to front road wheel is usually after reversing, or where the vehicle has turned into that side. There was a discussion on this in the old site and lots of pics showing it.

Not the sharpest of pics, but track sag and look at the track on the rear under the idler on this next pic.
This one shows curve on the front and tension on the back:
This is a Pzr 3, but it shows sag like yours and also shows the tighter tension on the right front side but the curve of gravity on the left as I mentioned…
The Panzer 2 is looking good Nigel. Or is it James? I’m old, but I’m sure my memory recalls you preferred Nigel on the old site!
Stopped WWII builds about 5 years ago but I still go for one every now and then. As this is a new Tamiya kit I fill follow with great interest as this is on my want list. Good luck.
Hi all. I’d like to join this campaign; the venerable Italeri Opel Blitz has been in my stash since I can’t remember when. This is the reboxing from 1984 (according to Scalemates, although I think the box says 1983?):
And the box contents - other than the yellowed instruction sheet, I’m surprised at the condition of this kit, still looks new in the box!
I will build out of the box, not sure if I’ll do a grey or a camo scheme. Thanks for having me, onward and Happy Modeling and Happy Holidays!

I think that the Panzer IV that Yeahwiggie will built is a 1977 kit. Am I wrong?
The new kit soon to be released is an F.
Hi James (Jimbo), great kit for its age. Built one around the 90’s with a 20mm flak (Tamiya) on it. Love it!
Good Lord, I´m getting very old…

Haha aren’t we all Raul! Tempus fugit - build more kits!
Quick update as I have been spending a lott of time on the Striker…
Will be taking it all apart as it’s only a dry fit. Then adding a fair bit of bare metal effect and chipping and wear and tear.
I will be doing a 2 tone cam on one bogie for variety, and the possible remains of a white wash to some areas…
Does anyone know what the primer colour would of been for these when they were finished in dunkelgelb ? …
Thanks Matt, that’s cleared that bit up
It’s still a pretty great kit if you want a quick and easy build or a test subject for some weathering techniques
I bought it because I made it a goal to have Panzers I-VIB in my collection before 2020 ends!
Yes, it is.
And I must say for the day it was excellent. And I think it will hold up quite OK for today’s standards too.
Tracks are not the best as are some of the details.
Very nice progress, Johnny. Cool idea to vary the camo on different parts.
Looking forward to see more
Some of you are really going fast!
I managed to work a little on the missiles rack. Obviouly Verlinden didn’t have full access to the real thing as when you put the missiles rack under the cover you can see that the elevating post would hit the central missiles fins. Anyway this will be a OOTB build as I don’t have that much references myself.

Calling her done. Tried to replicate exactly how my brother and I would have built this kit back in the 80’s so nothing added to it beyond the armour texture which I think came out really good.
As said earlier I went for a parade vehicle so its pretty clean in regards to weathering. A wash, some faded edges, soot from the exhausts and a tiny bit of staining on the fuel tanks. Tracks have been hosed down. Wouldn’t want a dirty tank leaving mud all over Red Square in front of Uncle Stalin or Comrade Commisar now would we
