Centurions: Fist of the Empire

First step is gel CA glue. Then pilitput to blend the seamline. Also milliput does not shink over time so there should be no issue in the future. (I have had a couple of M48 models develop a slightly noticable step over time at the part where the resin meets with plastic)

I think I escaped lightly with my mantlet, it was thankfully pretty straightforward considering it wasn’t meant for the Amusing Hobby kit. Hope you get yours sorted Nikos.

Well, it is starting to look like something…

The mantlet was easier to fix than expected, mainly thanks to the thick plastic of the kit parts that allowed much sanding and removal of material.

The bore evacuator fit easily after some sanding of the interior with a round file.

Great recovery Nikos, it’s really starting to look the part now. Great work :+1:

Ok… I am calling my Amusing Hobby Shot Kal done…
So it isn’t historically correct for the 73 Valley of Tears, so it will be representing one probably from mid to late 70s.

As said before, this was my first Amusing Hobby kit and it was great to build, no real issues, unless they were caused by me. Loved the tracks on this one, went together like a dream.

Weathering was done with various AK washes and filters. And I wanted it to have an old, dirty and well used look.

Thanks for the support from everyone who gave advice, and especially to @gtdeath13 Nikos and @ReluctantRenegade Israel, who had great guidance and images for everything IDF that I needed.
Looking forward to seeing the remaining builds as they completed. :+1::+1:

Great job John. You can tell you loved this build just by following your posts. Excellent finish and the base sets if off nicely. I have loved following along.

I am back at my Tiran 5 for the T54/T55 build and some of the info here is just as useful for that, such as the mortar colour, the .50 cal cables, etc. I second the applause for the help Israel @ReluctantRenegade and Nikos @gtdeath13 have offered here. The site would be much poorer without contributions of time and effort like you guys have given.

AMAZING finish John!!! I especially love the cables from the .50! I still need to add that to mine.
The weathering looks spot on as well.

Nicely done buddy! Thanks for joining the party!

Thanks Peter and Ezra, it was a fun build, and although it was pretty much straight out the box, apart from the mantlet cover, I did also enjoy doing the remote firing mech and cables for the .50
And thanks Don for running with it and getting it all going :+1:… It’s a great campaign/build.

Very nice finish John! The latest additions to detail the MGs really give your model a great touch of realism.

John, that is one fantastic looking tank! Love the weathering on the side markings…
I just have one question, would the ropes from that front crate go inbetween the tank and the side skirts? Not to critisise but as a genuine question…

Thanks Nikos, with the images both you and Israel posted here, most looked like they had a lot of heavy use… So I thought it would be fair to try and bring that across in the finished look.

Thanks Bert, there is no reason why they couldn’t as when the side skirts were put on and tightened that would press the rope or cord flatter. I did it like that as it was the easiest way to show something on the front track guard and have it secured. It is only positioned behind the hull side skirt bracket and then tied to an unseen point behind the crate :+1:

John you put a lot of love into this kit and it shows. This one really shines. Super solid build, details and stowage are just right and paint and weathering is spot on. It just has that look. This model is a stunner. Everything is perfect. This one will stand out by itself on your shelf.

Thanks Matt … Never really been a fan of Cents, but everything IDF I find intriguing, how they get it, rebuild it, upgrade it, and then make something completely unique. I would be happy to do a later version of a Shot as well now I’ve done this one :+1:
