More paint everywhere. Gathering the nerve to start the right suspension assembly.
Has everyone else finished their builds? I seem to be the only that has been posting lately.

No, I just have been focusing on my Arado water plane for the Skis, skids and floats campaign that finished yesterday.
I am now busy with both sponsons and accompanying weapons.
At risk of having yet another uncompleted WW1 plane sitting around, Iām going to try to get one of the planes in this kit done by year-end. I have some time now I havenāt had all year. The only real risk is that there will be a lot of oil on this, so I need to get the oils down early to give them time to dry. I also have a pheon decal sheet with lots of good subjectsā¦
Nice build of an unusual subject Erwin,
. I presume that the mortar wasnāt fired on the move,
.
G,
Thanks G.! The question is actually a rhetorical one, as this version (a extended Mk. IV) has never been used in combat, but I think your assumption is a a good one: I think mortar crews would have been thrown off during the driving⦠Having seen Mk. IV driving on period footage, they werenāt exactly smooth rides!
True, but they did only move at three miles per hour!
I know⦠In case they were on the rear platform, they would not have been able to anticipate any movement of the tank. That would have meant that firing a mortar would have been more of a liability than a asset!
Just sealed up the fokker. Here are pics before:
I need to get the base coat down on the wings but before I do that, Iāve decided I should drill holes in the top for the rigging to go in at the end. Iām not sure how big to make those holes? Probably should make them in the sides of the fuselage and on the tail plane also.
There are āslotsā molded on that show me where to put them.
I finished my entry today.
I present you Takomsā Mark IV Tadpole in 1:35.
In due time, it will be placed in a small diorama and will be weathered accordingly.
I have been inspired by the following photo:
The dio will be accordingly. Nothing fancy, just adding a figure for scale.
The model:
very nice. What is your assessment of the kit now that youāve finished it?
Thanks Phil! The kit generally goes together fine and is well detailed. The only problem I encountered was the fitting of both sponsons. I resorted to the use of plasticard to fill up the gaps that appeared after glueing them onā¦
Looks good Erwin. Makes me want to get one.
Thank you Ryan. It certainly is a odd beast amongst the already odd looking ww1 tanksā¦
Excellent outcome Erwin, beautiful model. The paintwork came out fantastic.
Cheers Matt⦠It is definitely a paintersā model. When Iāll put it in a dio, I start trowing mud etc at itā¦
Hello all I have ordered an artillery piece to hopefully enter into this build Its a US operated French 75mm by Hat 1/72 scale and the question I have is there a good set of paints for WW1 depiction. I ask because I donāt have the kit yet and was trying to source the paints for it, I have found one of my paint boxes but am having to throw some out due to bottles getting busted during move.
The instructions for this kit has a few mixes of paints for a French 75:
Thanks for that, to be honest ochre kind of threw me I have never seen that one before Iāll check it out. Thanks again phil2015

Ok I just received my Kit and Holy cow I didnāt realize 1/72 was so small am going to need to find my good eyes for this one itās a HAT kit of the US army French 75mm from WW1. not real sure about the figures but the guns and limbers thereās four of each. and they are all some type of Brown plastic not styrene. due to space constraints and my homework from work I will only build 1 Gun and 1 Limber for this build. I shall post pictures when my phone gets charged
