I grew up just south of Los Angeles and often saw the Bell 47s in the air. The local TV stations ran them all the time. There was also a TV show called Whirlybirds on when I was very young that made an impression on me.
They were around a long time. In the 1980s, a pal of mine & I flew out from our local Fullerton Airport to Chino where we had booked “demo” flights in a 47G. That was fun but the rate was too high to continue the lessons.

Hi mates, first steps and some early progress this evening for the campaign
The detail looks pretty good for the scale.
Paul
Yes, it’s a fine kit. I remember a review ages ago when it came out and it said, you could snapfit the clear parts and/or the windshield just in without glueing…
I will see if this is still true…
the cheap and cheerful cobra is starting to take shape the cockpit, chin mounted gun turret and exhaust tube have been added as well as some squashed air rifle pellets in the nose and under the cockpit pit floor to counter the tail sitting.
i have also added a shim of plastic card. to the tail boom so that the tail section will fit smoothly rather than having an unnatural step down.
Cheap and cheerful works well sometimes… The cobra looks nice where it is now … That Apache I did was a cheap one but turned into fun little build as well
my progress mught slow down due to a new arrival at our house, a female black labrador puppy called Sadie, named after a highly decorated dog that served in the British army.
That is a very fair excuse … Lovely pup …
Good on you! She’s beautiful! Now go about and move all chewable model bits to above waist level. Do it NOW.
ive managed to attach the tail section and the rotor hub that goes on the roof, both took some filling and sanding.
next is the canopy and I’m not sure what do here, what is the best way to mask rhem off, do i spend ages cutting small pieces of tape or do i put on one large piece and carefully cut round it with a sharpe blade?
i also need to source some replacement rocket pods as the kit ones are dire boarding on useless.
I put a large enough piece, on each window, and cut it to size, some kits do have masks made for them , you can look on scalemates to see.
Time to catch up with everyone’s amazing projects. Inspiring work being done on the campaign.
hudson29, fantastic job on your Sioux. The detailing of the cockpit is marvelous.
Gary_Kato, nice work on your AH-6 cockpit. Will you add crew figures???
hudson29, The Sioux turned marvelously. Incredible cockpit detailing. I love the canopy decal…nice accent feature.
Klaus-Adler, Nice. That’s a cool scheme for a Cobra. Enjoy the build…even with the kit imperfections.
B-17-peter, making good progress on your kit. Nice interior detail.
Klaus-Adler, a basic kit with flaws can be a fun challenge. Wow!! Hello Sadie!!!
frank, sweet looking dog.
Keep up the wonderful work everyone. That’s all for now.

Finished my Ka-50 Night Hunter. There was an issue with the canopy fit and there were some ambiguities in the instructions. Otherwise, it was a great kit to build. I’m glad I chose a more tactical paint scheme than the air show provided in the kit.
I had a great time on the campaign. I’m not done yet. I have a 2nd build planned. Stay tuned for an update. Keep having fun everyone with your projects.

you’ve done a cracking job thay kit, is 1/72 scale?
Thanks for the kind comment. Yes, it’s a 1/72 scale Zvezda kit.
No crew. I suck at figures. I’m lucky just to put the kit together OOTB.
That thing looks nasty! I’ll bet it would frighten any enemy to death just looking at it. Great job bring it to life.
Paul
Came out very nicely!
