Nice builds so far!
My finished entry is tiny, Revell Apache 1/144… hope you like it…
Nice one Bert,![]()
well im at that stage i have been dreading the canopy…dun…dun…da!
as usual another canopy that doesn’t fit properly and i haven’t found a way to stretch the clear britle plastic without it breaking.
first step was to put a thin strip of plastic in near the top then glued it in position as best i could. 24 hours later i plugged the rest of the gaps with putty.
rhe next problen is the “step” where the front of the canopy meets the fuselage. i intended to build up the difference which you can make out in the image below with more putty.
Good luck, David!
look good and going together better than mine lol
well i bit the bullet today and masked off the canopy by applying the masking tape and then cutting around it, so here’s hoping it works out ok
well that’s the automotive car primer paint been applied, several times as i spotted some issues i didn’t see first time around.
so the rest of this week has been spent using spray cans, first of all i used black car primer paint to spray the masked off canopy. once dry i covered that area and used white car primer paint to cover the rest of the helicopter. the two colours were sprayed on usinf light coats and took several days to allow ea h coat to dry before putting on the next layer.
I decided to put on decals before putting the fuselage together.

The decals fought me. The Army and serial number refused to leave their backing paper even they loosened enough. The Warning Arrow was the opposite. I had a fan on and the arrow flew off the paper onto my desk. I got them on but I won’t vouch for how straight they are.
Not looking forward to the other fuselage half.
Good luck!!

Hello fellow Helicopter modelers,
Time to catch up with everyone’s wonderful builds. Great works being done.
Klaus-Adler, thanks again for the nice comment.
Gary_Kato, you should keep trying to add figures to your builds. Gives them a sense of scale and adds the Human factor to them.
hudson29, thanks for the super comment. Yes, this bird has an ominous appearance.
justsendit, thanks for the great comment. I appreciate it. I get inspiration from everyone’s builds.
bwilt, great job on your tiny Apache helicopter. I can’t believe they offered an air crew for this small kit. Super work.
Klaus-Adler, great job getting that canopy to fit. Smooth work with the spray cans too.
B-17-peter, wonderful work on your kit. I see the aircrew in the cockpit. Aircraft just look better populated. Hahahaha!
Gary_Kato, I feel your frustration. Old kit decals are unpredictable to work with.
That’s all for now, Guys. Keep building and having fun.
Bill
Here’s my next build. The MPC kit of the Sea King in 1/72 scale. Definitely a vintage kit.
That’s all for now. Having a blast. Comments are welcomed.
Bill
that sure is a vintage kit and I’m looking forward to seeing more progress soon as i don’t think i have seen anyone here build one before.
More on my Airfix, 1/72, Sea King helicopter. My building spree continues.
That’s it for now. Making progress and having fun. Thanks for viewing. Comments are welcomed.
Bill
wow you are coming on leaps and bounds with that sea king but i don’t envy you all that sanding, i hate doing that. no matter how perfect i think i have done it i always areas i have missed, so good luck!
That crew members in the cockpit and the door look great! Very real!
Good luck for the rest.

P.S. I’d recommend to get some new decals on the aftermarket, the kit ones look not convincing any more. I built an old Fujimi Sea King last year and the kit decals just disintegrated ![]()
That old Airfix kit looks pretty good even after all this time.
Paul
Started gluing the clear parts. The blue on them is Micro Mask.

Time to catch up with everyone’s posts.
Klaus-Adler, thanks for the encouraging words. Yes, sanding is a chore, but a necessary one.
B-17-peter, thanks for the compliment and advise. Yes, old decals are iffy at best.
hudson29, thank you, sir. I have a nostalgic zeal for vintage kits.
Gary_Kato, Cool. Does the Micro Mask work well???
All for now my fellow plastic builders. Keep having fun.
