I really think Yoda says: “The wrong path you want to follow”
It was my version
“To follow the wrong path, you want”
Back in my hole, I will…
You guys won’t fool me with your Jedi mind tricks! I was going to continue work on the M60A1 all along!
Michael
That is a lot of work and painting!!!
I moved on to the next assembly of my Merkava III Odyssey, the Ramaqh
I want to build a vehicle of the first production batch, sometime in the early 90’s, prior to having the turret roof armor added.
The real thing:
I started with a Hobbyboss MkIIID kit (it was way cheaper than a Meng one and I could not source out an Academy kit, but to be honest the HobbyBoss kit includes much more better detailed parts that can be used).
Resin wheels by Panzer Art:
I tried to do a better job when assembling the suspension than I did in my previous Hobby Boss kit and managed to get a better suspension height (about 1.5mm, not much but better than nothing).
The engine deck is different in later MkIII variants, so some details had to be removed and others added. If anyone is interested I can do a short list. I also removed material from aroung the rear half of the turret hole, so that the turret sits more at the back.
Left track assembled:
I will be using a Legend set for the turret
Brilliant build Bert. Amazing colours on the veh and troops. Lovely detailing as well… Top marks
This will be another great addition Nikos… Looks good so far
Many thanks
On with the build, another issue of the HobbyBoss Merkava 3 kits is that the rear hull baskets supplied in the kit are those of the Merkava MkIV, which are different in shape (more square and shorter)
Merkava MkIV
Merkava MkIII
I used the leftover parts from my Meng builds and added the canvas bags by using the hobbyboss parts and some tissue paper soaked in pva glue.
Chains and other details will be added later, as I keep on working on the details and corrections I need to make on the upper hull.
p.s. I have no idea why I am using roman numerals for naming each variant but I have been doing it for years now… this just crossed my mind
…because Roman numerals are bad ass!
Kinda like the MkIV!
Does anyone know if the WWII British Army Open Cab 30-cwt 4x2 GS Truck (new Gecko Model) serve in the IDF War of Independence? Available pics?
Highly unlikely Jack. Only around 700 of the K30 were built up to 1941, as the chassis was devoted to the ambulances. Also, they switched to the closed cabin for RAF only service during production so the number of open ones was few. Of the early open type ones, a lot were in France with the BEF and were abandoned or destroyed by their crew. I read somewhere that Russia may have received some closed cabin ones.
Thanx!
Hi Guys,
going to get started on this one as the HEMTT Wrecker has stalled!
I am going to start with the Takom M60A1 and have got the Academy U.S. Machine Gun Set and have got some figures on order.
My intention with this one is to do a newly delivered M60A1 with the 30 cal mount on the Comander’s Mini Turret and add the Searchlight over the Main Gun.
I will keep you posted on my progress.
Cheers,
Richard Howden.
Dang Nikos, is there anything IDF that you do not have a picture of?
