IDF 76 Campaign

For the Mirage III loadout I am adding a Shafrir 1 AAM, which were tested out with poor results in the Six-Day War in 1967.

Finally finished. The all metal finish was much easier than I expected but the actual Mirage build was much harder. It didn’t turnout as nice as I hoped, but I learned a lot and am ready to do another all metal finish soon. I have another Modelsvit Mirage and an Egyptian Su-7 too, but I think I need a break before I can tackle another kit from this manufacturer.

It looks nice next to my Egyptian Mig-17 also from the Six-Day War.

Dang! After painting the T-55 for the “Made in Russia” group build; I have my Merk Mk2B, sitting next to the fume hood, I will start painting the Merk somethime this week… I hope.

Both look very dashy. Eyecatchers for sure.

Paint complete. I used Vallejo Tan green - Hemp. Then lightened with white for some lights.

Then I applied decals and some washes. And I painted some details.

The chains and balls are not yet in their final position to prevent them from getting caught when the turret rotates.

There’s not much left to finish this proyect.

That Spitfire has a very nice camouflage, Peter! Great paint job.

I am calling my Merkava done. Nice kit and easy to build… except the famous chains and balls. But with a little patience you can get an acceptable result. The decals are excellent.

Figure provided by the kit.

Thanks for this interesting campaign. It gave me the opportunity to pay off my debt by building this legendary tank.

Looks like I’m not gonna make it with my Merk Mk.2B. :frowning:

I will have to go hard during the weekend to see if I can make it before the end. All it needs is a coat of paint and maybe a little washing.

Last year when the campaign began I thought, I can finish something this year. I decided to keep it simple, it had to be from a kit on the shelf, and spare parts. I, eventually, chose to make a tribute, of sorts, to the men, and women, who fought to build a nation. I built a jeep from the 1947/48 period.

The Meng jeep is a really nice kit. The only issue I had was squaring up the suspension. The engine is a gem. I would love to build another just of the engine. It is calling out to be plumbed and wired.

I included a figure. It’s from the Hornet linefrom many years ago. Completely forgot I had it. Found it while rummaging through my parts drawer. Beautifully scuplted and cast. I had a difficult time painting it. Ever have one of those days when you just can’t get your guitar in tune? That was my experince painting this fellow. I’m still learning how to use acyrics on figures; oils have always been my go too medium for figures. But it has been a while…

I painted him as a Palmachnick from the late 40’s. I base coated him with AK acrylics - which I like. Tried to highlight and shadow with the arylics, but kept messing it up. Grrrr. So I switched to oils. Oy. I had to stop and accept it was going to be one of those paint jobs. But…The figure turned out okay.

I am almost finished the base I plan to mount the jeep and figure on. I should finish by the deadline.

My apologises for the sparse documentation. Small project, not a lot to see, and I’d get into the zone and completely forget to snap the progress.

I can’t upload the photos here. I’ll open a new post…
