Group Build Description: Modeling the IDF from 1948 (or before) to today

Event Details: (Remember to click “Going” if you want to join the build!)
iDF campaigns seem to be pretty popular, so I’m going to keep them going. This campaign is open to modeling all IDF (and Haganah, predecessor to the IDF) related subjects past and present. The campaign will run from Yom Haatzmaut, 2025 (Israeli Independence day), 1 May through 1 May, 2026.

Please note: this is a politics free zone, like the rest of KitMaker forums. This campaign is about modelling the IDF, not about discussing the morality of its operations. I will be keeping a close eye on this thread, and will deal with anything I feel violates this policy.

Completion Award:

A Note about Awards: The following text is a reminder that in order for people participating and finishing their projects to receive a badge on their forum profile, they will need to provide their account username to the group build leader by the completion date of the build. The leader will then provide this list to the site admin who will bulk award the badges to those users who have finished the group build. If you don’t provide your username or finish the project on the timetable the leader has setup you will not be able to receive an award.

I’m in, I’m thinking an M50. I’ve been putting parts together for quite awhile.

I think I will do a “Shmira”. Still have a M151 in parts somewhere. Might be a fun conversion/scratchbuild.
Otherwise I have a Tamiya Merkava in the stash.

I’ll see how I’m going with other builds, but I’m going to say a maybe. Probably do that Mirage IIICJ or Super Mystere I’ve had for ages.

This is the little push needed to finish a diorama with a Unimog captured in the Yom Kippur War.

I was digging through my decals and found a brand new sheet of Star Decals Magach markings from the 6-Day War, and I have enough left-overs from other builds to do a Magach 2. Hmmm…

I’m probably going to do border’s Merkava 2d with interior

My plan at this time (as usual, subject to change) is this beauty:

Working away on my B-17 right now, but we shall see…

OR (that didn’t take long): A dual/duel build with the Made in the USSR campaign.

I’ve had each of these kits in the stash since they were released, the Mirage in 2004 (good Lord, it’s old enough to drink!) and the MiG since 2013. Despite some scuffing of the box, the Mirage is untouched. The MiG has just the bright green areas pre-painted.

Planning on doing both from the 1973 time frame (assuming the MiG looked the same then as the markings in the box show.) Should be fun, if I can keep my focus.

If I actually commit to it… I am planning on building the same Eduard Mirage kit in natural metal from '67ish. Could be fun!

Still going to bring along my Chilean 60mm Sherman.

I’ve got this F-16I with a full loadout ready to start!

As promised and as IDF armor fan, i’ll go this little french tank.

This small tank took part in the 1948 War of Independence as part of the “Russian” battalion.

I’ve ordered from star decal a decal set containing the decorations of a few tanks from this battalion.

Hello, everyone!
I’m going to put together a diorama with the kit from this campaign.
I created this topic to share the progress:

Can I still join with my Merkava mk. 2D with only the engine and barely any interior done? Its about 25 or 30% done

Hey guys!
Does anyone have an image to share of a map of the Suez region that could be used in a 1973 diorama?
Thanks.

Something like this may work.

Lots of options via Google.

I’d say giiven all the running gear, hull, painting, etc., you still have a way to go. So I’m down with it.

Thanks, @HeavyArty !

With your help, I found this treasure

Saw that one too. It should look great.
