Sweet. There are still a few of them around but not many I almost bought an old ambulance version but it needed a new engine

I am determined to get something done for this one. Given my lack of traction on the two that I started (don’t ask), I’ve pulled this one out of the stash:

This kit is labeled “Early Version” but has parts for a late IXc as well, so it’s appropriate for the aircraft I’m building. I’m going to do the first IAF Spitfire, D-130, as it appeared in October 1948. According to Alex Yofe’s book, by then it was painted dark green overall with full 101 Sqn. markings, so that’s where I’m going.

I started this one mid-April, here’s the start pic:

And here are some progress pics:

For the dark green, I went ahead and assumed that they’d use RAF dark green as it was likely the most available aircraft paint they had at the time, so that’s what I went with:

I gloss coated it this morning, so should be getting decals on this weekend. Fingers crossed!

BTW, for those who may be interested, I’ve created IDF 78 if you want to sign up. Starting on 1 June, as discussed earlier.

Here is my finished build for this campaign. The Eduard 1/72 Spitfire in 1953 color scheme. A really nice kit with a lot of very fine details. I went with very light weathering with just a bit of dirt/grime around the canon loading and maintenance areas.

Thanks for a great campaign! Looking forward to see more finishers and see you all in IDF 78 :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m in for that one Michael.

OK, as promised, here is my completed build of the Eduard 1/48 Spitfire IXc. This is the first Israeli Spit, put together from parts in RAF dumps and some help from downed REAF Spitfires, as it looked in October, 1948. Shortly thereafter it was stripped of paint and made into a photo-recon bird, but I like the way it looks with full markings.

On to IDF 78!

Just about time to wrap this one up, and I’m going to ask for something just a bit different. I am asking everyone who completed a build in this campaign to please post just one picture of the finished product (it can be one that you originally posted) here in this forum. That will make it a lot easier for me to tabulate who finished so I can get the list turned in to the Higher Power for awards. Thanks!

Time to officially close this one down. Thanks to all who have posted their finished builds. Please remember, if you have finished this campaign, please post a pic of your completed build here so I can build the list to get awards handed out. Congrats to all who finished and thanks to all who participated.

On to IDF 78!

Any other finishers for this one before I send in the list?

Back in July, the Tiran 4 was below the 25%, but unfortunately I didn’t work on it.
So I’ll enter it on IDF 78 !!

I only finished my Trumpeter Tiran 6, from my IDF build list.
