Lifting the Fog of War: Command and Control

Forgot to mention that you need to paint it in Berlin camo though

He is… not even giving John the chance to choose between Berlin or Digital…

I might join with something I still have on my list for my IDF Diorama:
M3 Command vehicle

The M3 itself will probably be a Tamiya M21 with various parts from the Dragon kits I have…

I’d really like to see that Bert, that looks like a cool conversion.

It’s Trumpeters Command and control vehicle used in Operation Iraqi Freedom I believe. I think the US Army used 4 or 5 of them at the time.

Waiting for AFV Club M1130 kit. Will turn it into a 2nd SCR ā€œtop brassā€ truck.

There’s 16 days to go before the start date so you have plenty of time to post images, I wouldn’t bother until the campaign starts @Phantomlvr, and post the start picures then :+1:

Good enough for me. Welcome aboard!

Mixing the campaign with a Tigermeet bird maybe?

Don, in addition to my aspiration to produce a Land Rover and trailer vignette, I am also minded to produce a Headquarters in the Field, possibly a Corps or even a Div, and with a fair wind a Brigade too! This will be in the wargaming scale of 1:300. I chose this scale as it allows me to fully utilse the A3 and A4 sized bases I normally use, yet still portray realistic distances, also, the vehicles I require are just about available in 1:300, and no other.

I have been extremely fortunate in that a modelling friend of mine who produces his own military range in N Gauge (to link in with the model railway fraternity) has very kindly produced a couple of 1:300 models for me in pewter. Just for interest they are the mighty AEC ACV (which I encountered at Corps HQ in the early 70s):

and a Bedford office Truck - or ā€œBox Bodied vehicleā€ as they are also known:

Filched from the www - I think

I’m pretty sure that this meets the C2 criteria; 'hope this all suits - eye strain highly likely!

I will try and get some photos of the models before I do anything with them; regrettably, I’ve already started on the ACV.

Brilliant idea Brian. We don’t see a lot of wargaming stuff on here, and especially not at that scale, so this will be something new and different. Looking forward to it!

With a magnifying glass no doubt :mag_right:

You may well need it:

I’ve posted these as I realised I didn’t have any pics of them in their original state, however perhaps I’m guilty of breaking a campaign protocol in that I’ve jumped the beginning/construction phase? If so, my apologies.

Bad news Brian, it’s off the the glass house with you. I think a month of extras and a demotion in rank is in order.

Tell you what though as I’m a magnanimous overlord. You go down tools on this until the start of May and you’re good to go. This looks like it’s going to be a neat little layout and I’m not about to spoil the fun.

That or crack on with the wee things and just bring the Landrover to the party. Your call mate.

Ooops!

Glasshouse? No thanks; see:

The Glasshouse - Part 1 - YouTube

I’m sure I can hold off unttil May proper - my local pub is re-opening this weekend after a refurbishment(!) Besides, I have to source around another dozen or so models - the bit shown was only the Command Groupl of Corps HQ - there were around another 10 or so such mini-complexes. I’m not quite sure why I makle life so difficult for myself especially in 1:300.

In a fit of military masochism I remembered this one too; didn’t seem to be that much difference across the years(!)
