Already started my howitzer yesterday and did installed the turned metal gun. the casted structure at the gun barrel was made out of a 3d printed part. Now you can see how the barrel have a slight recoil within the rear mantlet as it should be :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

The turned barrel also have nice visible riflings provided

I’ll probably join in somewhere down the track. Either the MENG ZSU-23-4 Shilka, Tamiya Su-76 or Bronco SU-152. It will depend on how much time I have available to complete when I join.

Yesterday I worked a little on the Flagon

Zvezda’s T-26 is done assembly-wise.
I did not alter anything, apart from adding a mesh screen for the air inlet and a new corner iron on the leftfront, because the original has been sacrificed to the carpetmonster.
I hollowed out the barrel and exhaust and after painting a clear lense will be added to the headlight.
So it basically is OOTB.

The chain looks good. I thought it would be big for the model. Good work.

Some interesting new projects going on recently.

I’ve been doing a little detail painting of the cockpit this afternoon. Also attached the pre-painted etch to the instrument panel. Looks really nice!

Details attached and painted. Overall wash, pin wash, and light dry brushing done. Next up flat coat, then mud, dirt, and dust to finish it off. Also going to put a camouflage net in the basket. Thanks for looking.

Outstanding model DV. That blue-gray really sets a striking tone to the camouflage; it looks fantastic. Great detail and finishing throughout.
Every time I click into this topic I hear The Beatles’ “Back In The USSR” in my head. Just a mild short circuit…

Amazing!
And could you tell me how you paint the cables?

Nothing special. Copper cables primed with Tamiya primer. Brush painted with Tamiya metallic grey. Overall dark wash. Pretty much it. Everything painted after attached to model.

Etch added to the cockpit sides. These needed a bit of fiddling around with because the fit was a little vague. Took some care but managed to get them in the fuselage closes up with no trouble.

I found a photo on Google of a 21 with a grey cockpit and green seat rails. Don’t know if this particular one had that, but it adds a little colour.

Your tank looks spectacular, also love the grey color within the camo :ok_hand:

Call me mad but I already managed to finish building my B-4 gun (exept for the small ammo carriage as I do have four 3d printed now) within a bit over one day

The build was straightforward but not too easy as there are many small parts and some minor flash to remove but nothing remarkable.

This is the finished piece. I didn´t glued the gun and the two tracks on so I can disassemble them from the main carriage for a better painting. As I will depict my gun during a preparatory barrage I opted to lower the earth spade as it can seen in this drawing

Next will be painting stage :bucket:

That is fast building! You are in a hurry?!
Nice work!

Fantastic work, an exemplary build, especially considering that you did it in just over a day. Great details in that kit, Zvezda scores a win where Trumpeter failed miserably. Nice model.

No I am absolutely not in a hurry, I just was sitting still a little bit sick at home and had time during the weekend. Everything went smoothly and working on it and listening to a Stephen King story on an audio book let the time goes by very fast!

My built speed will decrease severely now as I am back to business after 1 week off during sickness. I expect only to continue on it next weekend.

One question though to the experts: I see pictures of plain colored guns and also nicely brown and khaki blobs camouflaged ones. Is there a rule for painting artillery pieces for russian guns in 1945? Can I use camouflage or better go with a plain green one? Thanks ahaed for your input!

Hello Black_sheep, nice model you’ve built. What do you think about expanding the build with an AT-T towing vehicle or making a diorama? You wouldn’t believe how long the B-4 was in use by the Russian armed forces. I was planning to do it too, but haven’t started yet, so I’m asking you. Here are some pictures.

In my mind, 1945 was a time of mostly urban combat. Spotted camouflage is clearly not relevant for the city. Plus, the fairly rapid advance did not leave time for painting the guns.
These photos are from the early stages of the war.

But, having been busy searching, I found examples of camouflage guns in an urban environment. There is no doubt that this is a German city, and quite possibly Berlin.

Although it is unlikely (Berlin): the soldiers are dressed for winter and there are remnants of winter camouflage on the gun.

Very interesting. We have a proverb: “Live and learn.”
Thank you for your question.
