This is simple Vallejo acrylic airbrush chrome. I have polished it afterwards with 2500 Grid sandpaper as the paint was a bit grainy - probably because it is 10+ years old.

Progress update No 1
I got some bench time and worked on my kit. Builds pretty fast I must say. It will need a wee bit of seam filling but it’s mostly due to operator error than a kit issue.
^^ Since the FL had the longer ventral fin, that part came from the PFM kit…
^^ … as the exhaust cone.
^^ The FL had the GP-9 Gunpod attached as the IAF wanted the guns which were missing from the PF/PFM variant. There was even a gun kill on the F-104 in the 1971 Indo Pak war. I’ll be adding this to my build.
^^ I used AK Real colour markers for the wheel well interior to speed up the build.. I used 2 coats without any primer and I must say I’m pretty impressed .
^^ The current status of the build. I got the fuselage closed up and the wing sub-assembly all glued up. I want the glue 24 hours to set before gluing the two together.

Got the underside of my Hobby Boss IL-2M done. The top gets done tomorrow while my wife and her sister take the niece/daughter to see “Zootopia 2”.
I expect to have this completed by the campaign deadline, as all I really have is the upper camo, markings, tires and armament left and this and Christmas break to spend more time on it.

Colors down. I have to touch up a couple of areas; hence the masking tape.
Hobby Boss continues the annoying tradition of paint schemes that do not match both sides if you try to continue a line from one side over to the next. PITA

The decaling turned out to be less of a job than I thought. All markings were there 4 times in blue, grey, red, and/or black. So a lot of extras. Now the decals need to dry before a semi gloss coat and some light weathering.

I got the first shade of NMF on. The built went pretty smooth and I got carried away. Forgot to take any pictures
