I built better stuff that that when I was a kid…
LOL
What kind of car is that?
Ken
well if the news is accurate about the Russian troops stealing everything that isn’t bolted down, then i would call it a “stolen car”
Yeah, erm… i think you’ve missed the point a bit, but don’t worry about it.
Thanks.
Unfortunately no. At the very least, in my opinion.
The youngest audience on Karopka, the most solid one on Panzer35. The perfectmodel website was created quite recently. Panzer35 users dissatisfied with the new policy switched to it. Some of the materials are duplicated on both of them.
Yes, web translators don’t always do a good job. When I prepare serious materials, I translate from Russian into English in Google, then translate it back in Yandex, apply my school and university knowledge of English, and, if necessary, correct the source text.
well here is proof that the Ukrainians are still using T-64BV
so is Karopka a better website than Panzer35?
On Karopka (slang for the word “karobka” [box]), the contingent is younger, with all the consequences: more active, but less intellectual. Panzer35 is more calm and balanced. On Karopka, I no longer read about the latest Zvezda - sheer abuse. There is another interesting site - Tiger’s Corner. As they call themselves - “a site of orthodox modellers”. If millimeters of size, angles of inclination of armor plates, exact knowledge of which bolt was used in which year are important to you, then this site is for you. There is a very detailed analysis of the material part.
C7 looks like the M-16A4, with its removable carry handle. The M-16A2 had a fixed carry handle that is part of the upper receiver.
The C8 looks like the early type M-4/later CAR-15. The Vietnam era CAR-15 had a thinner barrel, and various different flash hiders.
This was my assigned M-16A4, plus other gear
As with any form of media, modelling sites will be subject to the recent “Don’t diss our military” Law; it pays to be circumspect…

they’ll work just as well as the new stuff. The short one might have an issue with unburnt powder getting into the locking lugs on the bolt carrier. The same issue the old CAR15 had I might add here. They even have the newer style pistol grip that so many people like (I can’t really see the difference in use). The top one is a flat top, and this gives you all sorts of sighting options. The forward bolt assist is supposed to help, can’t say for sure as I was issued one without it. The bayonet is border line worthless in an M16! But still scary to some folks I guess. I was also given a CAR15, and that thing was a headache from day one. I tried to get rid of it several times but it always came back like your ex’s lawyer.

most MACV teams used the generic M16, and over half of SOG liked the generic one for good reasons. Remember you never want to be caught with an odd ball weapon in the combat zone. That makes you stand out while becoming to goto bullet. Same thing with the issued pistol. Tuck it under your shirt with a button or two undone.
The “shorty” in the photo is similar to the CAR15, but there were at least two different ones and may be a third. Two different barrel lengths, and three different flash suppressors. There might have been three different barrel lengths. Mine had the mid length barrel with the long suppressor, and was supposed to have been the better one. I hated it! Still it also had advantages. I could tuck it away under the back side of my ruck sack when we reconned a hill we wanted to move on to. The M60 was what I relied up on.

they’ll go bankrupt in sixty days, and they know it. Always remember the most powerful weapon in the world is not a nuke. It’s your wallet! If the U.S. alone took them off the most favored nation status; there would be an automatic 100% tax on all their goods when and if they got them off loaded to the docks. China’s not stupid!

we need a kit!

The C7 I used as personal weapon had a fixed top and could not receive another sight, only iron. The C7A1 could fire full automatic (The C7 in burst (3 bullets at a time)) and had a scope. The Netherlands never got the bajonets.
I found the C7 to be a fine, trustworthy weapon. Though I only used it on the firing range, it never failed me. I was a above average shot, with the C7, and rarely failed to hit the target.
was trying for the best of me to remember what exactly the long flash suppressor looked like. It was about four inches long with round holes in it (I think). Kinda like an M14 but with round holes in it. I was issued an early M16 that had the AR15 logo cast onto the side of the receiver. It had the short buffer and light weight spring. All black inside. Around the third week of Feb. a van showed up and changed the buffer spring to a much heavier one. A week or so later they showed up again and changed the buffer and bolt carrier assembly. Two or three weeks later they changed the barrel to the chrome lined one, but kept the same three pronged suppressor. Two more weeks go by and I have an entirely new upper receiver that is chrome lined but no forward assist. All the new guys after that had forward assist receivers. Rumors of thirty round mags were everywhere, but never saw them issued till late summer (infantry of course). In June I saw my first CAR15 being used by a MACV heavy team. In August I saw my first XM177’s being used by the 196th Infantry They looked weird, and they also were not fond of them. Preferred to just use the M79.
The advantage of the chrome bolt and carrier was that you could carry a rag made of a rotten tee shirt that had a little ATF fluid in it. You just wiped everything down and scrubbed the lugs with a tooth brush. I had chamber brushes sent from home, and could clean the rifle in five minutes or less. The trick was to wipe everything dry, and put it together

Gary this is very interesting, i have been reading a lot of books about MACV-SOG particularly the CCN guys and most of thrm rolled out with CAR-15’s for the faster rate of fire as well as less weight and it was easier to handle when they were extracted on “strings”.
so far i have read guys using other weapons including cut down RPD’s but thus far no one i have read about used the standard M-16. it is possible that it was more common with CCC and CCS as i have not seen much literature from those guys.
