Here’s an interesting one to ponder. A Ukrainian T-72 Ural that has some upgrades such as the Kontakt 1 ERA, and anti radiation cladding. Looks like it took a hit on the right side rangefinder optical port, which also damaged a fender fuel cell, but nothing beyond repair.
@logandavis74 where did you find those and who makes them and where can i buy them from?
The Dutch send all their Diemaco C7 and C-8 rifles that have not been modified to modern standards to the Ukraine.
C7:
C8:
@golikell the bottom rifle looks like a CAR-15 from MACV-SOG
@Khouli i have another Windsor Davis special for you

The Diemaco C7 is actually a licence built Colt M16A2.
We called the C8 “Super Soaker” due to it’s collapsible stock
I don’t know it’s pedigree…
@golikell here is a picture of a CAR-15

It indeed looks the part…

I love that one…that’s a keeper !!
My understanding they were white after peace keeping duties.
very interesting find Frenchy, any idea what they might be used for?
Very proud to say Australia didn’t f#$k around with this and acted within 4 days of Ukraine Presidents request for Bushies……
Yeah, good on them.
God forbid though, as the west arms Ukraine to the teeth, that China should agree to send military equipment to Ukraine in support of the Russians - because, well, that would be provocative and just plain wrong wouldn’t it.
or an opportunity to subject Chinese tanks to destructive testing.
Time to increase the production of anti-tank missiles …
The C8 is the export / licensed version of the current US M4 Carbine. It is the most modern in the line of M16 Carbines that started with the Colt Commando / XM177 / CAR-15 in Vietnam.
Russians cant use their own equipment properly let alone chinese. And how are they gonna pay for it ? Whats in it for China ? Russia has already promissed discounted oil and gas for years to them. China cant sustain its living standard without trade with the west.
Thanks Yuri,
That’s a great selection of Russian forums I wasn’t previously aware of. I need to spend much more than an hour browsing, but clearly there’s a lot of excellent work in all of them.
Google Translate works OK but it often struggles with Cyrillic-to-English, and the results sometimes can be amusing - I imagine it must be the same in reverse too. Maybe that partially answers your question why so few non-Russian contributors are there – without a good command of another language it can be difficult to understand the linguistic nuances (and slang) of native-speakers. Easy to be misunderstood too. I guess that’s equally why there are so few (4?) Russian members of Kitmaker.
The most noticeable aspect on all three sites was how little the current “special operations” have been covered. As you mentioned the Karopka site’s Any theme/Ideas from War Z topic shows a few recent photos of operational vehicles, but no chatter and no wrecks from either army. However there is a more revealing discussion in the Armoured Vehicles gallery - 2S1 Gvozdika (Skif model) topic. There are multiple jingoistic comments there, although they dried up by March 14 after the Moderator intervened several times to remind members about Site rules, which basically ban any comments not directly related to model-making.
With such massive use of modern Russian (and Ukranian) weaponry over the past month, it would be reasonable to expect model-makers in Russia to be as intensely interested as those in the rest of the world. I imagine if those forums’ demographics are similar to Kitmaker’s, there must be a good number of army veterans contributing to them too. But there’s almost nothing. Perhaps the Moderstors have dealt with strongly patriotic supporters’ and dissenters’ comments alike by banning them all. If so that’s reasonable, but it’s surprising that any discussion of (strictly) model-making and photo-references relating to the Ukranian conflict is also absent. I guess we must draw our own conclusions about why.
Again thanks for the links, I have learned a lot ![]()
