What happens if you don’t attack them, and they’re real?
So what if you know decoys are in theatre? Are you going to take the chance? At the very least you need to use resources to confirm the target’s identity - or, you waste missiles on decoys.
It worked fairly successfully on a number of (very large) occasions in WWII.
I sincerely hope they’re not going to be used in any kind of offensive role, the British Army got rid of these vehicles ages ago, they’re worse than obsolete - they’re almost Russian in vintage.
The pictured tracks are the rubber band type. They’re lighter than steel tracks but more difficult to replace. Under combat conditions, replacing a band track is more tedious for the crew - unless it’s a segmented version).
