Great finish Jesper, looks really nice
My congrats, Jesper, I really like that finish and the SEA camouflage

I will wear that Phantom baton with pride
BTW, Jesper, what kit exactly did you build?
Cheers
Peter
Wow, that is a really nice looking Phantom, Jesper!
Have fun modeling
Mike

Getting under way with my British Phantom FG.1, 25th Anniversary edition…
The undercarriage is white-metal and looks great, the fitting of the parts is ok so far, as usual with these Fujimi Phantoms, the painting will be the major challenge here…later
Cheers
Peter
Thanks for the positive comments, guys! Much appreciated.
Peter, the kit is an old Testors kit. I actually expected it to be a reboxing of the ESCI kit. It turned out to be even older and less detailed kit - not clue to how old and what the original kit was.
Also there were no drop tanks in the kit, which is very unusual for Phantoms.
Very nice work, everyone!
After a not so brief hiatus, some progress on the Z-M F-4E. I let the fiasco with my Vallejo paints get to me for a while, but then I dug in and started trying to find Tamiya equivalents for IDF/AF colors. I’m fairly happy with what I came up with, so here’s where I’m at for now:
I know I’m going to want to go over the edges with the sand again, but I’ll wait until I put the brown down to try to do it all at once. These soft line camos are not my best thing, but it sure looks better than it did when I tried Vallejo!

Looks good Michael, what tamiya colours did you settle on ? It has a nice faded/subdued look
I’m using XF71 cockpit green, XF55 deck tan, XF52 flat earth, and a mix of XF23 light blue with some white. Not perfect, but close enough for me at this point!

It is looking very nice to me, cracking job
I agree with Johnny. It looks great.
Something to keep an eye on in the future are AK real colors. They work just like Tamiya paint. I don’t see any particular IDF/AF colors on their list but they might have some colors that would work.
Thanks, Phil. Do AK colors use the same thinner as Tamiya? They do have a box set of IAF colors.
Here’s the Phantom as of the end of the day today. It looks better in real life. Need to go over the brown again for sure, then we’ll see.
Michael
For the AK real colour range I used a lacquer/cellulose thinner I got from a local car shop to use on the Stryker, it’s a brilliant range of paints… Highly recommended. Your F4 looks lovely Michael, I think the paint has a genuine faded out look already
Thanks, Johnny! I’m thinking I’ve reached the point of diminishing returns on this paint scheme, so I’m calling it good. Gloss coat for decals next!
Michael

I use Mr Levelling Thinner (MLT) with Tamiya paint and I use it also with AK real colors. I’m not sure about other Tamiya thinners. I used to use the alcohol thinner they make, but once I got onto MLT I forgot about everything else.
Hi again
I’ve just realised how the clock’s starting to tick down on this campaign!
(For some reason I had the end of June in mind to finish - Ooops!)
I’ve been thoroughly distracted building things for the Steffen Arndt tribute, but I will make it a priority to get my F-4EJ Kai back underway this week.
All the best

Still painting, but it creeps along steady…
Next come the blue underside and fuselage sides, the blue must be mixed…

Cheers
Peter
P.S. …another picture of the odd kit squeezed between campaigns
Looking good.
I’m a Phantom Fan too, though I prefer the Spey powered variety (RN, RAF).
Thought you might appreciate this pic
